Anyone ever letter a USAF model 46?

I have only lettered 1 model 46 and while it wasn’t a USAF gun, it did come back with an interesting letter.

I’d be interested to see pics and the letters if you send off for them on your guns.

Please post some pictures! You probably know that the AF PG marking stands for Air Force Premium Grade and was stamped by armorers at Lackland AFB. They have tuned the guns for competition. The letter will probably look like this. I've obliterated some of the SN since it is not my gun.

Thank You!

Many thanks for the replies! Just what I was looking for. Here are some pics of the two guns from the sellers website. Condition is not N.I.B. but I like that they have the two different radius cut slides and two different front sights. My good old Dad was once a cadet at Lackland just before the Air Force Academy opened in Colorado.

Buick:

Nice M46s. The Air Force also purchased 7 inch guns.

I hope that you will letter your pistols and post back here with the information.

Regards,
Charlie

That is interesting about the 7" guns. I have seen some 46's in photos that are stamped "U.S." on the frame. So many variations within this small run of pistols. I'm looking forward to firing these .22s. I know that the non radiused slide pistol should only be fired with standard velocity ammunition. Does anyone have a favorite brand?

The guns arrived and cleaned up very well. Have yet to shoot them. The round radius gun is stamped matching on the slide, barrel, and frame. Looks factory. The square cut gun is only serialized on the frame.

In response to an inquiry, here are the s/n stamps on the radius cut pistol.
