Model 39-2 and Model 59 Grips
Does anyone have a solid recommendation for new grips for the 39-2 and 59? I just picked up a beautiful Nickel 39-2 but it came with Pachmayr Signature Grips and a couple of 59s I've purchased lately also have them. Unfortunately for me, I can't stand them. I want to replace them with well made grips that look close to being original. For the 59s, they would have come with the black plastic grips. I've sourced a few sets but they look wrong on them because the guns are amazing and the grips are scratched and worn. Does anyone offer good black reproductions?
I tried the Amazon grips and they were absolute garbage.

I know factory Model 39 wooden stocks show up frequently on eBay. The factory nylon Model 59 stocks might be a bit harder to find.

Along with posts on ebay, I frequently see grips listed on GB. These are mostly wooden grips for Model 39's which will fit the 59 but not the factory original Black grips you seek.

Model 39 & 59 grips are not interchangeable. My experience has been that decent original 39 grips don't seem to be so readily available as the plastic panels for the 59, and that when you do find a set, the former are far more expensive than the latter. One current source of nice grips for both models is Thailand, with a wide selection to choose from.
See: Smith 39 – handicraftgrips (also 39-2)
And: Smith 59 – handicraftgrips
I'd emphasize that I'm not endorsing the above seller on account of I've never ordered from them. Their products do look to be very similar to a set of Thai grips I bought off ebay within the last year, which really dressed up my 59.

For the 59, you might consider the Uncle Mikes rubber panels. They are discontinued, but they are out there for little $$.

Sorry for the mistake in this post. What I was thinking is the model 39 grips will fit the model 52, not 59. It's hell getting old.

I wanted some nice grips for my 459, and didnt like any of the available options. My 459 came with a one off pair of extra thin wood grips, but they had zero texture.
I sent some G10 and my wood grips to Thing Meister Fabrication, and he had made me some CNC cut custom grips to my specs. He can do it in any color, any texture, however you want. For your 59, he would probably reuse the same model as he did for mine and all you'd need is to provide the material. He does wood grips as well.
In total, it was 2-3 weeks and $100, and i couldnt be happier with the end product. Fits very snug on the grip screw bushings and required minimal fitting around the side plate and safety cutout. I think he could replicate the texture and look of the factory plastic grips very easily, with the added bonus of G10
