Crimson Trace LaserGuard. My apologies in advance if this was posted previously—a search for “LG-CSX” had zero hits.

This is the most aesthetically pleasing, best integrated, trigger guard-attached laser that I can recall. Not as bulky appearing as others. Crimson Trace went the extra mile by carrying over the slide serrations to the laser. Nice touch.

I purchased the green laser at a modest discount. Optics Planet is currently running a sale for the red laser at a very attractive price. Two left in stock as I type this post.

Not into laser sights. Too many times I have seen people at the range with one and all I see is the red dot bouncing all over the target and horrible shots.

It's called chasing the dot. Many give up on lasers because they cannot stop themselves. For example, many have the sights move a little during the trigger squeeze. Yes, I know that should not happen, but if at the actual moment of ignition the gun always manages to be pointing the right way, it doesn't matter. Thing is, the dot will move inches or even a foot at the target distance during that same pull. Shooter finds themselves unable to ignore this movement and starts chasing the dot.

Lasers are a great way to get "minute of goblin" shots off quickly, but for precise shooting they can lead you astray.

I've looked at it from a different perspective: the laser is a good training aid, revealing how much the pistol is moving when lining up the shot. Learning to steady the laser improves accuracy.

It also reveals the proverbial sudden jerked trigger pull.

Yes, I know that should not happen...

The laser dot is going to move around if you're bullseye shooting freehand, the same as your pistol does using just the metal sights, unless it's clamped in a vise.

The dot just amplifies your freehand movements.

You just have to ignore that movement, just like with metal sights, be as smooth as you can & release the hammer when it's aligned the best you can.

When my son first shot with a laser on his pistol he did a lot better than he did without it & got me wondering because he usually starts flinching after a bit.

I think maybe because he was concentrating on minimizing dot bounce more than with metal sights?

It lasted until he got to shooting full loads (vs white box loads) & then he was back to flinching. :p
