I once bought a Cali DOC 6906 for 350 delivered and it was stamped very similarly to the gun that you have posted. I paid around 500 for a NIB 3913TSW so I would say that gun would be in the 350-400 ish range. Maybe a little more if it has the original box and/ or more mags.

Kuda 427, I think you will like it as a CCW and there very sought after because of this. I have had one for several years and it just plain works! There easy to carry. I see the mags on here for sale for $40 or so each, so consider that in your offer. The gun alone is easily worth some $450 I would think. Kyle

Those DOC guns are nice. I bought one with two mags for $450.00 two years ago. The Bxxxx number is the DOC inventory number. The DOC 3913s were not shot very much from everything I've seen.

IMO it is one of S&W's finest handguns. It was the product of large magazine bans during the Clinton years. My instructor said it was the best shooting gun, right out of the box, that he had ever seen.
It has a large following here.
Love for the 3913

I have two 3913's, a 3914, and a 3913TSW (no rail). I guess you could say I like the platform. A GS that I do business with on occasion has three 908's for sale and I'm trying to keep myself from buying one.
I think that if S&W put the platform back into production tomorrow, they'd find a market for it. Of course I'm biased.

Nope.
That helped to make it more popular over the years but it was in production well before the Klinton ban in late 1994.

The 910 and 410 were direct products of the 1994 AWB, but not the 3913 or any other lower capacity 3rd generation guns.

OP....no shortage of fans here for a 3913....the one you posted pics of looks to be in very nice condition....3 mags....Hogue grip...which is a plus for carry/shooter in my opinion....consider the DOC markings "character".....the only weapon that would replace it on my hip would be the 4513

Now that you mention it, apparently they didn't. Which seems a bit odd, but there it is.

Ironically, I don't think that the 3913 is available to CA residents.

Even though a handgun is not on the CA DOJ safe handgun roster list of guns allowed to be sold (new) in CA, as long as it's via a private party sale/transfer, it's fair game (for the time being).

How would a gun go from a government agency to a private owner without going through a dealer?
We have similar rules in MA, but there are some loopholes that may not exist in CA. For example, if a gun was owned in MA prior to the rules going into effect, it can be transferred through a FFL. Or, if someone moves into MA and brings non roster guns in with them, they can be transferred, but NOT through a dealer.
In the case of the DOC guns, my thought would be that they were traded in to a FFL or manufacturer for new guns. Wouldn't they then have to be on the roster?
I bought my DOC gun from a private party and he indicated that he bought it from a MA FFL. I don't know the details, though.

It is kind of funny, seeing this post when I did. I also purchasing a similar CA. DOJ Model 3913 with the Hogue grips installed on this handgun. As I am still waiting for the "10 day CA. wait period" to be up, to bring it home, I have no photo of it. I had one of these when S & W first came out with the Model 3913. I carried it off duty for a while but as the caliber did not start with a "4" I soon sold it off to pick up something in a .40 plus caliber. I can't even remember what I bought but it may have been a Colt Commander .45 ACP.
This Model 3913 may end up with my wife. She has a S & W Model 642 and 36-1 (3" heavy barrel) but she really would like a compact 9mm L. handgun and I can't think of a better one than a Model 3913.....

Nice 3913. Congrats!
I've had a couple of those CA DOJ 3913's pass through my hands. I was told they were issued to Probation and Parole officers.
Both of mine had VERY smooth triggers. The trigger pulls were shorter in DA then the DA pull on my early production 3913's too. Very nice guns.
As far as replacing the 39XX carry gun with a 4513TSW, I recently did the opposite. The 4513TSW is a great compact 45. The best made IMO.
While I am a BIG fan of the 4513TSW (especially the original 6-round mag variant) the 39XX series guns are simply thinner and easier to carry/conceal in miserably hot humid NC summer weather.
With my 3914 loaded with bonded 147 grain Winchester Ranger, I feel just as well armed AND more comfortable in the heat.
But don't PM me. My 4513TSW's are not for sale and will be back on my belt this fall. Regards 18DAI

Picked up a Kramer IWB from a forum member for my 3914.
Best holster I have ever owned. Pistol seats in it with an audible " pop ". You can turn it upside down and the gun stays in. Couldn't be happier with the comfort and the way it is formed to the gun.

Is there a dealer source for the CA DOC 3913's like there is for 5906's? After finally finding my 39-2 the 3913 has gone to the top of my wish list and I'd love to find one without paying Gunbroker prices. I've started searching LGS's here in the Seattle area, but I'm willing to cast my nets furthers. I love all my 39 & 59 series....and would like to add this to the collection.

There was a dealer on gunbroker who had a bunch of the DOC guns. They were around $400 if I remember correctly.
