I have a chance at an excellent condition 5946. Definitely a "sock draw gun". Not sure how many mags or box but the price is definitely right. I hope it's there tomorrow morning.

I had a 3953. Exact same DOA. The 3953 was an great gun but I traded it for a 6906. I wanted the higher capacity for daily carry. The 5946 I'm looking at is in excellent condition. I'm more of an accumulator than a collector. I just love 3rd gens. For what that 5946 is priced at and the condition it's in, if it's still there this afternoon, I'll buy it.

If it speaks to you, buy it! Life's too short to let one pass you by, especially if the price is good and the gun is one you want for your accumulation!

She's home. Best $350.00 I ever spent. Nearest I can tell it was holster carried a lot because the right side of the grip is a bit beat up but other than that (and filthy as all get out) no scratches no dings and the rails are like new. The crown and rifling are perfect. It hand cycled 9mm dummy rounds like a champ. I need to slap the new flat grips, order a new set of springs from Wolf and I'm all good for the first trip to the range. It's an excellent addition to my growing brood of 3rd gens!

As with anything that is not always available the best time to buy it is when you see it. I lost more than one gun that I wanted because I dithered and ultimately somebody else bought it. Lesson learned.

We've all been there, done that and bought the tee shirt Gary! I buy the ones in my price range when I see them. I all most walked on this one because it was a stainless 5900 series and i already have a 5906. It's not perfect by any standard but it's a pretty solid 3rd gen for way under $400.00.

I want a 5946 so bad! They never pop up locally
Great pistol - I have a late 5946 (former NYPD) out of Houlton, ME. Well used or at least carried a lot - maybe not shot that much. Probably my best shooter.

I have seen several 5946 in emailed offers in last month or so - looks like a significant recent turn in. Several of the big dealers seem to have or have had some at decent price range - $300-400 as I recall - maybe more for "select" - I dont know condition - didnt follow up as I dont think I could better mine.

I am going to take a chance here and list a few that have come across my email in alphabetical order and hope this is not flagged as advertising - not affiliated with any and dont know if any of these guys still have any in stock. If not allowed, Admin please take it down.

The ones I recall are AIM Surplus, - aimsurplus.com , Classic Firearms - classicfirearms.com , and a lesser known small operator, Larry's Pistol & Pawn - 2 or 3 stores in Huntsville AL area - pistolandpawn.com - Not sure who still has what if any - probably others - check all or google 5946. I have dealt with these 3 over the years. And if you CALL Larry's you can actually speak to someone who has access to the pistols if they still have any - they sent me pictures of 3 4513TSW so I could choose.

I shouldn’t have opened my big mouth…my wallet is a little lighter now! Thanks for the shops, I snagged one!!!

I bought one here on the forum a few years back . It's an NYPD gun , and it shows it . I'm leaving it just the way I got it , if only those marks could tell me stories . It came with everything , the label is even marked NYPD . The owner even included an NYPD shoulder patch .

I finally got to the range with my 5946. It is the smoothest of all my 3rd gen pistols. Actually it is one of the smoothest pistols I've ever owned. That includes the 5906 TSW I foolishly traded off. It loves 124 grn Geko FMJ and when I did my part I found the pistol to be as accurate as the rest of my 3rd gens. For an impulse buy it my very well turn into the best firearm purchase I've ever made.

What’s the best/lightest trigger pull can you get on the 5946 with new springs? I kind of want to know before I get a 5946

I have a new Wolf 15 lbs hammer spring in mine. I think that's the same weight spring for the factory for the 5946. I've heard several folks on the form comment on how smooth the 5946 was. My 3953 wasn't bad either. This thing is slicker than snot on a door knob, even har cycling the slide.
