I'm trying to make up my mind on my next carry piece and wanted to see if anyone could give som input on the comparison between the Smith CS9 and the Kahr CW9. I'm not real sure about the difference in size, so if anyone knows, I would be appreciative to find out. Also, how does the trigger pull on the CS9 compare with that of the M&P 9mm's. Thanks.

Thanks. Do you know anything about the width comparison? I really like the trigger pull on the M&P and was hoping that the CS9 was similar. The cost is a factor, but would prefer to have something that I don't struggle with.

Welcome to the forum HudsonCreek. I can't speak for the Kahr, but the CS9 trigger will not be like the M&P trigger. The bulk of the CS series guns are traditional double action (TDA), that is the first pull of the trigger will be double action while supsequent shots will be single action.

There were a small number of CS guns that were shipped Double Action Only (DAO). These may be similar to the M&P. You also have an option to send a TDA pistol back to Smith and they can make it DAO.

Cheers,
Sam

What about your opinion on the Kahr CW9. I really think my M&P is the best I ever had, but wanted a single stack 9mm for carry. I also have a Taurus Pro Millenium, but hate the trigger pull and didn't want to go with the Kahr if it is like the Taurus. Thanks again for your input. It really helps.

My opinion on the CW9?

I can only compare it to the only other pistol I own, which is the S&W Sigma 9VE. The Sigma has a hard and long trigger pull. But it never bothered me.

The CW9's trigger isn't as hard as the Sigma, but it's comparable as far as being a long pull. But I believe both are that way for safety's sake, since they have no manual safety.

I've never shot the M&P or the Taurus, so I can't be of help as far as comparing the trigger to those models.

For me, the CW9 has a very comfortable trigger. Try to find a range that rents handguns and maybe shoot one before you decide. I love it, but you may feel totally opposite about it.

CS9, hands down,

Just my opinion,

If I were going to consider the Kahr I would go with the KP9 (labeled as just P9) vs the CW9. They are virtually the same gun but the KP's are a lot nicer, one of the main differences being replaceable front sight vs not (so if you ever want a night sight....). The KP's are a bit more expensive but would also make it more comparable to the CS Smiths.

I have a CS40 and think its a great gun, especially with the BigDog grips. Ive not fired the Karhs but Ive always preferred DA/SA vs DAO.

CS9 or 3913 if you want a single stack. CS9 is a 7+1 and a 3913 is a 8+1. Both good choices, but hard to locate at this day and age. Good luck.

Hi I took my CS9 TDA and had it converted to DAO and had a trigger job done by S+W.I love the trigger which is consitent and smooth..You won't be disappointed with the decision to get a CS9......Mike

I have a 3913 and a CS9...you will never go wrong with either of them. The CS9 is going to be sold to purchase a 1911SC if that helps you out. They are not easy to find anymore.

The CW9 from Kahr is very much their budget series line, it includes 1 magazine and the sights are not convertible to night sights without milling the slide. The CS9 is much more pistol if you can find one and probably a slightly better pistol. I own a K9 and PM9 and while both fine pistols, the CS9 slightly edges them out IMHO.

Thanks for everyone's input. I went ahead and purchased the Kahr CW9. Traded in the Taurus also. Right now price was an issue so we'll see how it goes. Really liked the Smith though. Now, ... if I could just find some ammo.
