Is there any real world use for these mag holders in the stock? I can't think of any practical way to use them other than for storage.

If you're in a PCC competition or something like that, just use mag pouches on your belt. It's fastest.

If you want to store your FPC in your truck, RV, ATV, boat, as a bug out bag, etc. it's convenient mag storage to have on board the gun to just grab and go.
It's not as tactical as mags in belt pouches or a chest rig for combat... but it's way more convenient than having no spare mags with you.

Plus, if you're willing to do a little practice and figure out a technique that works for you, the mag storage access isn't that unwieldy. Not as fast as from belt pouches, but faster than mags that aren't with you.

Or if you don't want the extra weight at the butt end, just leave the compartments empty.

Just a ok place to store your mags while put away for storage surely not for practical range or defense needs. Just a sale gimmick.

I use them solely for storage. It's awkward to try and detach them and reload, at least for me.

I use mine for storage, and that's OK with me. With probably close to 100 magazines, anything that helps keep them sorted and identified is OK with me.

Storage for me also. But that is a practical reason on a grab and go or a truck gun.

Also at my age I don't see any scenarios where I will need to do any speed reloads with this rifle .Especially after firing the first 23 rounds. But that's just me .

FPC butt stock mag holders

Good only for storage. S&W placed them wrong side up to conveniently pull out and load. They come out rounds facing backward so you have to turn the mag completely around in your hand before inserting. Its why L.E. are avoiding these.
