I saw at a gun shop today a used S&W99 Compact or Subcompact, whichever it's called, (and 9mm I think) for just $250. The frame looked well-worn from carry, and it only had 1 magazine, which was for the standard length grip, but I thought the price was pretty low. I didn't snatch it up , but are these guns that looked down upon by the general gun-buying public? I thought a S&W99 would probably go for somewhere at least in the $300s if not higher.

I think you can't go wrong with a $250 purchase even if you have to send it to S&W for some work. Like previously stated, they are in the $450 to $500 range......
