I saw at a gun shop today a used S&W99 Compact or Subcompact, whichever it's called, (and 9mm I think) for just $250. The frame looked well-worn from carry, and it only had 1 magazine, which was for the standard length grip, but I thought the price was pretty low. I didn't snatch it up , but are these guns that looked down upon by the general gun-buying public? I thought a S&W99 would probably go for somewhere at least in the $300s if not higher.

Some of the Walther people look down on them for not having the Walther banner on it, but other than that public opinion is at least neutral. I personally think my SW99 is a great gun. If the gun is fully functional, somebody will get a great deal.

cheak it out in depth see if it cycles if the firing pin strikes etc if it is working good then BUY IT it is about a 500$ gun right now

Are those the ones that have the de-cocker button on top of the slide? That's always a feature I thought was far better than H/K's and Sig's method?

yes it sure is spotted dog, and they are MAGNIFICENT guns I trust the full size in .40 with my life daily

I personally alternate between a 4040 (summer carry) and my SW99 (The rest of the year). They are great, reliable, and accurate guns. The main reasons I got that pistol was for the decocker button, the light weight, round count, and grip angle. They all work together for a perfect carry gun.

Hey M&P777,
Got a Bud that was looking over my shoulder who is know veryinterested in the gun. Are you passing on it, and if so where is it?
Take care and God Bless...HT

I own both the SW99 and the SW99c and have had 0 problems with either. No FTF's and triggers are ok for a plastic pistol. The full size 99 is very accurate and the 99c is probably accurate but not with my guidance :) I think you can't go wrong with a $250 purchase even if you have to send it to S&W for some work. Like previously stated, they are in the $450 to $500 range......

I saw it yesterday morning at Fort Thompson Sporting Goods in Sherwood, Arkansas. That's just outside Little Rock. They're closed Sunday, so unless somebody got it Saturday, it might still be in the display case. Phone number at Fort Thompson is (501) 835-3006. I think they open at 9 AM. Good luck!
