I would love it if S&W applied their subcompact 9mm magazine technology to a DA/SA

There are currently not any DA/SA micro 9mms in production.

There are a bunch of striker-fired guns and now and now a single-action.

While I don't think TDA guns are as popular as they used to be, this thread and others show TDAs still have a following.

I'll be surprised if some gun manufacturer or another doesn't attempt to cater to that niche.

I hope it's Smith that does it.

OP - You might want to take a look at the CZ 75 D Compact (with the forged aluminum frame, not the steel frame version). Flush fitting 15 round magazine, DA / SA with a de-cocker, weighs 27.5 ounces, only a few more than a Glock 26, and feels great in the hand - sort of BHPish. Bought one a short while back, and it is fast becoming a favorite. Not a true hide out gun, but very concealable and easy to shoot well.

Maybe I am showing my age, but I always liked a de-cocker DA/SA, or total DA auto, especially for police work. My department was one of the first state police agencies to switch from a revolver to the Beretta 92, and I found the transition from DA to SA with subsequent shots to be a non issue with a little practice. Most troopers scores actually went up during qualification compared to our DA .357 mag revolvers.

The CSX would already be in my safe if it was DA/SA. Personally, I think it's going to be a flop. After the 1911 guys scratch the itch, it's gonna languish in sales. Not a lot of market for a subcompact SA pistol. I don't know anyone who carries a Sig 938.

I do! :D Guy at work carries one because it works like a his fullsize 1911s. He does admit that it is a bit of a handful to shoot and probably not for everyone. I think the CSX has a bit more mass to it, but I would have to check the specs.

My wife and I find the Sig P238 quite nice to shoot, although the grip is maybe a little small for my long skinny fingers.

The CZ 75 compact is a nice gun. It's about Glock 19 size, maybe a little bigger. There's a few on the market. Beretta has a 92 compact and a PX4 compact. CZ also has the P-07, which is very much like the 75 compact but with a polymer frame. I'm not opposed to any of those at all, just wishing for something in the micro-9 size. If they can make a Shield with 12+1, I'm hoping there's enough interest and desire out there for them to ship a DA/SA in the same size/capacity.

I would love to see S&W come up with a TDA 9mm in roughly the same size as the CSX. I carried TDA S&W pistols in 9mm and .45 ACP as duty and off-duty guns when we first transitioned from revolvers in the '80s. I have recently rekindled my love for them and have two 3913s that I carry often. I'm currently looking for a 6906 that is not cost-prohibitive. I bought a CSX and really like the feel of the gun, but I'm still checking it over before I decide if it's going to be a keeper. I'll give it a little break-in time before making that decision, but if S&W comes out with a TDA similar in size with an aluminum frame, I'll bite.

Agreed that striker fire has taken over, but there are enough hammer fired guns out there that there is interest.

Look at the original Shield. 7 or 8 round mag. They re-designed the gun so slightly that they made the Shield Plus, with virtually the same dimensions, so much so that they both fit into the Kydex holsters. The new one is even lighter somehow, even though the grip is a hair wider and the magazines are wider.

They already have the research and the machinery (somewhere, I would imagine) to make the CS9. I'm sure they could redesign that magazine to hold 10 rounds, and then you would have the TDA with a de-cocker. Slim it down a bit. The safety doesn't have to be so big. Same for the slide lock. Would it take the world by storm? Nope. It would sell more than these CSX's are going to. I just don't see a real niche for it.

I'd buy one! Or two.

LOL! If S&W made that gun, the following gripes would appear from the usual suspects:

1) Slide safeties work the "wrong" way;

2) Spurless hammers are blasphemy, I have to be able to manually cock my gun.

For target shooters, perhaps. At the range, perhaps, if you must to ensure that perfect grouping. Otherwise, cocking the hammer on a self defense gun is a habit that you do NOT want to have. The long, double action (dare I say revolver-like?) trigger is there for a reason.

They sold millions of 3rd gen guns with the safety working the "wrong way". And if it was a decocker only it wouldn't matter where it was.

Spurless hammers are great for snag free concealed carry, and they sold millions of those, too. Not to mention pretty easy to change them out if you wanted to.

I don't recall bobbed or concealed hammers slowing down sales of 640's, 642, and 442's.

The Rami is still pretty thick and heavy, though an excellent pistol, is basically to the CZ 75 what the Glock 26 is to the Glock 17. The post is more asking for a CSX (Shield Plus, G43x, P365XL) sized pistol, which is a considerable difference.
If you like thin...
