I posted this in the smithing section and so far no answers,so I'll give it a go here.

How do you clean the firing pin channel on a CS45,I can't seem to see a way to get the firing pin out. Is this something I should or shouldn't worry about????

You need to remove the manual safety body and then it will come out. It requires manipulating the firing pin and firing pin safety plunger to get the body out.

It is the thing I do least often but if it's got a bunch of gunk and grime in there, it's definately not a bad idea. Especially if you use this for defense.

You push the firing pin in as far as it will go with a VERY small punch, the safety will then slide out the left of the slide.

WATCH, THE PIN WILL GO FLYING IF YOUR NOT CAREFUL.

Will this work with dual decockers?
Yes, you just have to remove the lever on the right side first. You have to push in the detent in the center and slide the lever off forward. Of course there'll be a spring under preasure underneath.

S&W pistols do have a firing pin safety so you can't just push the firing pin forward.

Was'nt aware of the firing pin safety, mine does'nt have one.

All it requires with the safety is to depress the pin on the bottom of the slide, THEN push the firing pin in.

First time I disassembled a Model 39 I ended up ordering a new safety plunger from S&W. Be ready for it when you pull the safety out.

As the others have stated you want to push the firing pin in fully while pressing the FP safety plunger in & you'll notice if you release the plunger while the FP is fully depressed that it will catch on the safety, then with the ambi safety lever removed, If it has one, you can manipulate the safety lever about half way in between fire & safe & start to wiggle it out being ever so carefull not to loose the safety lever detent & spring, A large clear freezer bag can be used to capture the small parts if you disassemble it inside the bag, a little tricky but worth the hastle if you loose the parts.. #4 & #5 are tiny..
Once the safety lever, spring & detent are removed you retain the Firing pin with your thumb & press the FP safety plunger & the Firing pin & it's spring will be released.
Reverse on installation, You may have to push the FP in slightly to get the safety reinstalled, then when the hole for the plunger & spring is close to the slide you install them & work the safety the rest of the way in working it inbetween safe & fire.. easier said than done but not too bad..
On my 3913 there was some crud in the firing pin channel & I hosed it out with Gun Scrubber & a pipe cleaner + 22 bore brush, I also put one drop of oil on the safety & detent but you wanna keep the FP channel dry/clean.. Do not over lubricate this area.. You could also use a Tetra grease or TW-25B white grease sparingly..
I put an extra power Wolff FP return spring in mine as it came with a new recoil spring kit that I had aquired..
I also noticed that my safety was smoother to operate after this as there was a bit of caked carbon & oil lube on the safety & plungers..
Please anyone trying this use the freezer bag & if your not mechanicaly inclined take it to a gunsmith PLEASE!!
I had no trouble but was taking my time & looked hard at the parts diagram beforehand to assist me..

I'm Not a Gunsmith & Never Claimed to Be..
