Sell my 5906? What the heck was I thinking!
Lately, I've I had me eye on another 10mm S&W and thought about raising some funds. So, I put my 5906 in the Classifieds last week for a few days. Except for an inquiry about a trade, I received no offers. In the meantime, while the ad up, took the pistol out for a goodbye shooting session. It shot so well I sort of rediscovered how cool it is. So, when I got home I took the ad down. Anyway, I took it out to the indoor range again earlier today. Below are a couple of targets I shot. Sell this little guy? What the heck was I thinking?

You weren't.
I had mine all packed up last winter, ready to trade for something (can't recall what it was now). For whatever reason, I decided not to go through with it.
I believe there was some Divine Intervention at work as there is no way I would part with it now.

The 10mm S&W's are nice but don't sell one of your favorite guns to get it. You still have a kidney to sell, right? I would have a hard time parting with any of my guns, especially my 3rd gens. I'm sure you can find a way to fund a 10mm (they are great guns, I've got 2 and still want more).

Sell 5906?
How could you even think such a thing? I've only had mine for a couple months but there's no way I'd ever part with it. It and my all stainless 686 are the most beautiful guns I have. I am in the process of picking up a factory new condition used 4046 from Bud's. Oh yes, I like them.

I have had a 5906 for twenty years and when it got a bit lonely, I brought a 5903TSW to keep it company.
By the way, a local leading gun magazine just did a massive comparison test of so called basic 9 mm pistols and they ranked 5903TSW and 910 as the worst of the guns, on account of them being "old fashioned service pistols with poor trigger action and unsuitable safety lever". Hee-hee!

The author is probably some kid who was raised on plastic guns. I find it funny how people complain about the hardship of a longer first trigger pull and a safety. if you can't handle them, maybe you don't have the skill to handle a weapon at all. I still have not seen a Glock or any other plastic pistol (including the M&P) do anything better than a traditional metal pistol. The weight saving you get isn't worth the higher likelihood of jams due to limpwristing, and I have yet to rack the slide of a polymer gun that felt as nice as a steel one. I sold off my 2 Glocks, Beretta PX4, and a Taurus PT140. No more plastic guns for me.
I took my 6906 to the range a few weeks ago. Got to talking to the guy next to me who was shooting a Glock 22. His gun jammed 3 times in the 100 rounds he put through it. I didn't ask if they were reloads or whatever. Anyway, he was completely unaware of the TDA operating system He was impressed with the safety and the magazine disconnect on the 6906. When I asked him why he bought the Glock without doing some research first, he said "That's what the cops carry. I figured they were the best".

I guess it's more like: "That's the cheapest gun that fulfills the needs of cops."

The Virtue of Patience
It's been my experience that the worst "deals" I've ever made are when I have a gleam in my eye for the latest "must have" on the block; have no jingle in my jeans to buy it and end up selling something I have to get the funds I think I "need". Seller's remorse follows closely on the heels of these sort of transactions.

I bought the latest fad M&P9 and M&P9c but they did not suit me and now I have 4 3rd gen. and another on the way. It was easy to let the plastics go.

This year, after not shooting my 3913 for five years, I got the "I dont have a 1911 .45 and I really need one" bug. I was going to sell my 3913 to fund this "need". After doing alot of research of what 1911 was best for my "needs" I found that it was mind-boggling.
I took a break and cleaned and lubed the 3913 and took it to the range, and I thought the same thing "what the hell was I thinking!!". I bought this pistol brand new in the early 90's and loved it. Great shooter and great CCW. Long story short....my dad was with me shooting his Colt series 70 .45 and said "You will regret selling a trusted firearm for a spur of the moment decision." Then he tells me if you want to take my .45 and shoot it, you can take it anytime you want.
Now I am going to get a quality concealed holster and start carrying my 3913 again.
