I had heard from a S&W armorer that it wasn't a good idea to dry fire the M&P 9. The manual says it is OK to dry fire. I emailed S&W and was told that " excessive " dry firing of the M&P 9 could damage the striker. The manual needs a revision.

S&W says it's ok for centerfire but a big no for rimfire, but I suggest snapcaps anyway
