4513TSW Grip
I got my hands on this early 4513TSW. It uses the 6 round mags. I ordered a 7 round mag but it leaves a gap at the botom of the grip.
Would like to know if they make or made a filler for this gap.

Years ago I took one of the 6 round baseplates and removed the bottom portion. You can then slide it onto the 7 round mag and glue it to the finger extension. If I find a pic, I will post it.

I have to wonder if one extra round is worth a jury-rigged solution?

The problem is that the short grip and smooth baseplate don't allow for much purchase under recoil. A longer grip or a finger extension are needed.
This is why the model was only made one year. If was useable by only a small percentage of shooters. S&W switched the 6 round mag to a finger extension (and rubber grips) when they used it for the CS45, but the short mag was still on odd length. Too short for 3 fingers, too long for just 2.

I had the same 4513TSW and replaced the factory grip with a Hogue grip. The Hogue was made to fit the later versions of the 4513, so I ended up cutting away part of the hogue grip to recess it for the 6 round mags.
I wonder if you could mount the hogue grip and use the 7 round mag? The grip would "fill" the gap for you nicely. In the picture, you can see where I had to cut away to fit the 6 round mag that is inserted.

BTW....even if you stick with the 6 rounds mags, that Hogue grip is worlds better than the factory plastic one.

Why not just order the 6-rd mags made for the original 4513TSW?
They still make them.
That's about the only way to get the original flat butt plate made for that model, too. The original style butt plates still come on the magazines but they aren't shipping the butt plates alone as parts.
I made a couple sets of modified Hogue grips for a couple of original 4513TSW's, too. According to Hogue the original 4513TSW wasn't produced in sufficient numbers for them to make a grip mold specific to that gun.

Thanks for the explanation, Kurt. I never handled an example of this model and wasn't aware of the short grip issue.

Thanks Guys, for your input. I have 2 of the 6 rounders got the 7 rounders for the pinky extension due to my fat fingers, trying to get my middle and ring fingers on the grip to hold on is not easy.
Will get a Houge grip on order and give it a shot.

Looking on Houge's website, I don't see anything specific to the 4513 in grips. I'm interested in one for my 4513TSW sans rail. V1?
They don't even list anything for the 4513 as models it will fit, but they do list the Shorty 45 & as I understand it, that's just a Performance Center 4513TSW.
Only mentions the 4516.

Yes, the Hogue grips for the 4516 will fit the second version 4513TSW and Shorty 45.
They need to be......tailored..to fit the earlier rail free 4513TSW.
Search member Fastbolt's posts. IIRC he gave details and pics on how to do the "surgery" needed to make them fit. Regards 18DAI.

resurrecting this thread to see if anyone now knows of aftermarket grips, besides Hogue, for the 4513? Thanks.
