Guns we wish Smith & Wesson had made
I’ve not seen any posts regarding this subject but I have for quite a while now been wishing that S&W had offered the Model 18 with a two inch barrel. There’s just something irrefutably pleasing about the aesthetic and handling characteristics of the Model 15 snubby. The heavy barrel and adjustable sights might seem to some to be somewhat anachronistic but I love the idea.

Model 616
My wish is for a stainless steel K frame chambered in 327 magnum. Imagine a model 66 but with the smaller bore size. Six or seven shots, 2,4,6 inch barrels, it doesn’t matter much, but I think I would prefer the longer barrel version. Oh well, I’ve been waiting 35 years now - is anyone listening at S&W?

Guns I wish S&W made or would make now:
The previous configuration of the J frame all steel/stainless steel 38 Special only versions of the Model 36/60, Model 40/640, Model 49/649.
Model 10/64 (2" and 4" standard barrel and 3" heavy barrel), 15/67 with 2", 4", and 5" options.
Models 19/66 in 3" without the barrel compensator and set-back front sight, and 5" barrel to go along with the 4" available now.
Model 12/612 (my choice of model number) in 2" RB and 4" RB. The 612 would be alloy frame with stainless barrel and cylinder, same color as current Model 642.
Model 17 with 2", 4", and 5" options.
A modernized "Registered Magnum" with all of the engineering improvements, with the ramp and front sight set back to look like the originals with various sight options and barrel options similar to post-war, but with additional choices as follows: 3 1/2", 4", 5", 6 1/2", 8 3/8".
Model 29/629 with 8 3/8" barrel option added to the 4" and 6".
Model 39-2 with current engineering improvements, and have it look like the original 39-2 with blue finish and wood stocks.

I would love a no lock blued 3in fixed sight L frame 44spl. We’ll call the blued one the 591 and the stainless one the 691. We could remake the K32. A 3in k frame 32 h&r mag would be ok too.

Just give us a 6 shot 640 Pro. Kimber and Taurus are able to have a J-framish sized revolver with 6 shots, so who can't S&W?

You are describing “Project 616”, the gun S&W should have made but never did!

I LOVE THE FRoggie idea....
A 616 ......
I took my 16-4 and had Bowens rechamber in .327 Federal...it is awesome.
A stainless version, maybe with a removable port (it is a stout cartridge) would be fantastic....maybe 7-shot with titanium cylinder.....but we need another .327 Federal...
here's mine:

Offer Models 19, 27, and 29 that are truly classics, with all the features of the Dash 2 variants of these models without any of the modern abominations, most notably the IL. And since anything goes in this wish list, offer the 27 and 29 in 5 inch models as well.
Reminds me of a corny old 70s song, “I Like Dreaming.”

L-Frames. 5" half-lug blued no-lock, in every caliber they can manage.

I do not know about "would" have made. However, I cannot figure out why they are not still making 3" model 10's and model 64's.

My wish ... a 5 - shot J-frame with a 3" bbl and adjustable sights
in 45 ACP !
I just love big bore belly guns and a 3" with adjustable sights is no harder to conceal than a 2" with fixed sights ... but I would take that also !
And I want it in 45 ACP because it's a big bore and I shoot it well .
In 2005 I had to buy a Taurus 455 because S&W didn't make a 5 - shot 45 ACP J-frame ... I like it but ... I still want a nice sleek S&W to slip in my pocket at night !

That is most curious, same for the 13 and 65. Used prices are high, they quickly sell whenever one comes up, it would seem a no-brainer marketing decision. A Ladysmith 65 without the Ladysmith markings would absolutely sell. I wouldn't even care about the lock.

I don’t know how much they’d sell. The new 4” Model 19’s and 66’s don’t seem to be such big sellers. Collectors and enthusiasts like us would drool over a nice older 3” Model 64, but I wouldn’t want a two piece barrel with a lock 3” model.

- 327 7-shot K frame (like everyone said) 3" true fixed sight and 6" adjustable sight (maybe half-lug), 8 3/8" definitely half-lug
- 327 J frame stainless steel frame, titanium cylinder, centennial style concealed hammer, 2.5-2.75" barrel.
- 10mm L frame 3" true fixed sight, 5"-6" adjustable sight, 8 3/8" half-lug
- 10mm K frame 2.75-3" 5-shot centennial style concealed hammer

Not 7 shots only 6. both in 327 mag
3' fixed
6"
I am currently working on a steel 6 shot J frame in 327. The recoil on the one I made on an alloy frame is to snappy
But a production fixed sight steel J frame 327 would be great

Three inch seems to be a market all it's own. Different folks than the four inch buyers. As far as two piece barrels, the most accurate Smith I own is a 686 Pro with two piece barrel. The lock I simply ignore.

Agreed, 327 is pretty far beyond 32 mag in an alloy frame. If sticking to factory loaded ammo, 30 SC might fit the use case.

Its been said, but I want an L-frame 10mm.
I also want new model 12s, or similar (such as Scandium if necessary), in a UC style.

Model 1854 chambered in .460 or .500 for around $1000-1500 would certainly be nice. New production steel framed handguns in 9mm, 40, 45, and 10mm would be the best. A .40 version of the m&p metal would also be cool. On the topic of .40, the Response and the FPC would both be cool in .40, maybe .45.
A csx with a trigger that feels like a single action trigger would tempt me to carry 9mm again.

I'd favor a M10/M64 with tapered barrel but in .357 Magnum.
An updated Registered Magnum would be on my list as well.
Best,
