I would really like to see an 8 shot stainless steel 627 with a regular contoured 5 “ barrel
I get that the slab sides of the current offerings are for weight reduction but I’d like to see a choice available like the old 357 8 times 627that was available 20 years ago
Full disclosure : I am Canadian , I wouldn’t be able to buy this revolver today anyway - we have elections coming and that will change
I have faith , please build this

Edit to add : I’m actually not sure the old revolver I’m remembering didn’t have the flat barrel sides
But I would like this one to have a rounded contour please :-)

I agree, we need 627s with standard barrels. They did produce a 4” version of what you are wanting. 627-5, product code 163357. Too bad they were produced for only 2 years. Obviously, they’re scarce.

Does what you're looking for have to be stainless steel?

Smith and Wesson did produce carbon steel, 8 shot, model 27 revolvers back in the 2000s with traditional round barrels. These were manufactured in 3 1/2", 4", 5" and 6 1/2" barrel lengths.

This image depicts one of each of the 6 variations that have been produced so far.

Since you reside up in Canada only the two longer barrel lengths would be legal up there.

These were produced in relatively small quantities. The 6 1/2" was only 100 pieces as was the 4"

So these are out there but they are going to be difficult to find and will probably command a pretty healthy price

Actually that product is not the traditional tapered barrel of the model 27 family of revolvers. It is a heavy barrel more like the model 25, 29, and 57 families of revolvers

Those or some handsome revolvers guys thanks for sharing
Seems like there might be a market then ?
They could offer 4 1/4 ,5 ,6 inch models maybe a choice of tapered or bull barrel too ,as long as I’m dreaming

I have some blued revolvers but over the years I gravitated more toward the stainless models
Partly the look , but mostly the maintenance.
I have felt the pain of a tiny scratch on the barrel of an otherwise perfect model 19 I eventually sold the 19 because I couldn’t get over the scratch
I don’t notice scratches on my stainless guns
I also used to believe that revolvers should hold 6 shots but my m 69 helped me get over it . However it still feels weird to not have that 6th shot
I also searched for some time to find a 617 no dash so my 22 would only hold 6
If I get a chance I’ll probably add a 10 shot one day

That barrel style is actually a wide rib exactly like the 629, SW never offered an "N" frame Stainless copy of the old Model 27 narrow rib barrel in .357, closest u can get is the .44 caliber Model 624 or 629 Mountain gun barrel.
............unless you are open to an L frame in which case there is the 7 shot 686+ Mountain gun in .357 with narrow rib tapered barrel and half lug ejector rod shroud
