Now that S&W is gradually bringing back the "Classics", how about a replacement for both the old Mod. 16 "K32" and the later Mod. 16-2 .32 H&R Mag (with full rib)?
I would like to see a new Mod 16,that looks exactly like the original Mod. 19 (and 66) .357 Mag, but chambered in .327 Fed. Mag, and with a classic half-lug barrel in exact 5-inch length?
That should satisfy both the 4-inch and 6-inch people. K-frame 5-inch guns have the most balanced-looking profiles, especially with the classic half-lug ejector shroud.
And of course with target square-notch rear sights and ramp front sights. (WO & RR?)

Correction to my original message: I meant to say Mod. 16-4 for the full-rib .32 Mag, NOT Mod 16-2.

yes, a modern K32 would have me deeper in debt.
I would like mine with a 6" barrel, shrouded ejector rod, not the full underlug, TH, TT, Patridge front and plain black rear. Blued, and yes I could live with 5"

You have just described what I would really like, a 5" K32 in .327 with PLAIN BLACK front and rear sights. Supplied with K sized "Coke" Targets in figured walnut.

sounds to me like a perfect gun. make it an 8 shot and you've go a pretty snazzy revolver. the best of the old and new. i'd definetly buy one. i don't understand why smith and wesson hasn't taken advantage of the .327 fed. do they have some kind of exclusive deal with taurus and ruger? they are the only manufacturers that i have seen with a .327.

I'm rehashing some previous statements by saying some of this, but anyways...
I'm really impressed by the .327FedMag cartridge and I'd really like a K-frame S&W to fire it from.
My first choice would be a "616", 4" barrel, 7-shot, stainless finish, RR/WO, for HD, hiking, and general range use. My favorite pusher has promised to order one for me when S&W makes it.
My second choice would be a "316NG", 2-1/2" barrel, 7-shot, Scandium frame/stainless cylinder Night Guard, just about the perfect K-frame carry gun IMHO.
However, the gun described at the top would be my 3rd choice, but with a Patridge front sight.
My checking account is in trouble if S&W releases them all at once.
