One of the guns I would LOVE to see S&W build would be a three-inch fixed sight N-frame in .41 Magnum. That would be without a doubt the PERFECT little packing gun for most applications.

I think I'd like a 4" 658 but if they made BOTH I guess I'd have to get one for each hand! Stainless M&P 41 mag, wow!!

If they do then I semi retire my 58.

Yes, but...

i loved the initial concept of the .41 Magnum cartridge; especially for the, then, potential law enforcement market...

But what, really, can the ".41" do that the ".44" can't do better...?

Factor in, too, the current unavailability and "out of this world" price of .41 Magnum ammunition. Also, there is no ".41 Special" to provide a "lighter load alternative" such as with the ".44 Magnum/.44 Special."

It just seems like the .41 Magnum was once a good concept, but, for whatever reason, "...never got off the ground..."

Has no one any imagination? Make mine a 2" bbl! I remember a photo from Combat Handguns in the 80s showing a fixed-sight 2" bbl 29, and obviously, I've never forgotten it.

We'll never get one, but it doesn't hurt to dream. The .41 ammo problem correctly cited by SmithFan651 certainly throws a damper on this proposal, attractive though it is.

I have dreamed of a 3", round butt N or L frame 41 Mag preferably in SS loaded w/either
Glaser Safety slugs or Cor-Bon 170 gr Sierra hollow core bullets for daily SOCIAL PURPOSES CARRY. Maybe one of these days!!!!!!!!!!!!! After those, I'd really like to replace my .41 Mountain Revolver; stolen 12 years ago from my home in Terre Haute, IN.
