Welcome to the "hive mind" lol And yes this place.. well simply put.. if you cant get a answer here.. come back tomorrow.. it should be here by then lol. These people are great. I remember my first shots with my 15 22( im only at around 1k now) and it was a great feeling. Now you can get started adding all those add ons to your rifle. Im pretty sure every one is the same here, and has the same if not MORE in total cost in their accessories on their M&P 15 22 than the cost of the gun to begin with lol.. myself included.

Most people use this as a stepping stone to a .223 AR 15.. me.. I have 2 of those already, so the 15 22 is simply for fun. And MUCH cheaper to shoot. Hey, if you're not going to war.. and only target shooting... why pay all that extra cash to just punch wholes in paper targets? Congrats on your purchase, and welcome aboard!

thanx for the welcome. much appreiciated .. i love the fact that i was at the range for 2 hours and it cost under 10 dollars to shoot..i have a few rifles but this is my 1st 22lr....

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Just got my 15-22 late last month and finally got a chance to put some rounds through it last week. This is my first rifle and I had such a great time at the range. So much fun to shoot. I'd like to eventually get a .223 AR but am also using this as a "stepping stone" before moving up.

I just bought a 4x scope for mine which arrived today. I'm going to try it out at my local range next week. For the ranges that I'm going to be shooting at, I hope 4x will be enough.

the range i goto is 100 yrd max so im thinking a 4x will do the job. let me know how you like yours. wich one did u get? do u have a link?

Unfortunately I'm on an extremely tight budget these days, so I just got a really inexpensive "Swiss Arms" 4X32 scope" that is advertised as intended for Airsoft and Air guns. I got it off Amazon for $25 (+ around 5 bucks shipping). I live in the SF Bay Area and am not going to do any actual hunting, just target shooting at my local ranges and maybe an occasional trip up to the outskirts of Yosemite where my friend has a house so I can plink cans and various other fun stuff to shoot. I'm going to my local range next week to try out the scope. I'm only going to be shooting at 25 - 50 yards max, but I'll let you know how it works out. I chose this particular one because it comes with Weaver/Picatinny rings so that I didn't have to buy anything extra to mount it on my rifle. I attached it to a seperater riser so that I can just swap it out with the handle (I'm partial to the classic M16 look with the handle). I have a cheap Red Dot site that I can also attached to the top of the handle.

Good luck with whichever scope you end up choosing for your 15-22! :)

congrats on your purchase. These rifles are fun to shoot, not to mention the "on the cheep" factor for ammo costs. A few of my friends got 15-22 fever after I let them play with mine. My best friend ordered and just recieved a MOE. Lucky Dog, I just have more toys on mine!!
Enjoy it bunches.
