Picked this one up today at the gunshow in Columbia,SC. Model 10-5 Ser. C7732**, 1964 is my guess. Was happy to find the same serial number under the right grip. It's in very good shape. I'm thrilled to have another model 10, tapered barrel is a plus, as I just traded my HB M10 off last week and was model 10less. Got it for $400, not the best deal I've ever got on a gun but I thought it was fair. Saw ALOT of Smith's at this show and was glad to see them and have plenty to choose from, this is the only show I was off work at the same time this whole year.

Very nice find. Great gun, the 10. That was my very first S&W Revolver purchase from a friend. It is a tack driver. At first I didn't like the tapered barrel, but grew to appreciate the symmetry. I also have a 15 Combat Masterpiece like I carried in the service. Enjoy yours to the max. How many 10's do you have?

This is my 1 and only for now. I've had some in the past and traded or sold them off but this is staying with me. I'm on the look out for a HB after my tax return gets here.

Thats a nice one! Carefull, ten's are a bit addicting especially after you see how well they shoot!

That's great and I'd be happy with your find. I just saw a run-of -the mill Model 10 tapered barrel in the LGS for $399, yours appears to be nicer. The tapered barrel is my favorite, although with a 5 inch barrel. I too, have come to prefer the tapered to the HB. Enjoy.

Glad to see you had a great day off work. Very nice gun it looks to be in great shape. $400 is a good deal especially in that condition.

very nice. Dad has one of those from 1971. Only difference between his and yours is the diamond grips. VERY nice. Good choice for a good old fashion fundamental weapon

Hey i saw and handled that gun this morning, not a bad buy. They did have a good bit of Smiths, but they were so busy it was hard to move around. I did happen to walk out with one of those complete ar lowers for $99 bucks out the door.

A good model 10 is hard to beat, the only one I have is a 10HB but man that thing shoots like a lazer. Congrats on your find. "this is the only show I was off work at the same time this whole year" I hope that now it is 2011 that you will be able to attend a few more this year :)

Congratulations. Good find. I paid more than that for a 10-7 a few months ago (it did have box and papers) so you ain't the Lone Ranger.

Years ago, I didn't like the "pencil barrel" Model 10's. I thought they looked old fashioned and quaint.

Today I like them because they look "old fashioned and quaint."

Yep 2011, unfortunately it's the only show I was off at the same time this year. I'd have to take vacation to go to anymore. I picked up a brand new, NOS, Pachmayr open back Gripper to go on it as well and tucked the diamond magnas away for safe keeping.

Congratulations on your new 10-5. I have two one is a M&P 38 special and one is a heavy barrel newer model. The model 10 and 15 too me are the best 38 specials ever made.
Thanks for sharing,
Howard
