Saw this today when I was doing a walk thru; asked to look. It is a 10-6 with 357 on the right barrel, S&W on the left side, 10-6 on the frame and crane. The chambers are bored deep to accept 357 length. S/N is D633, I failed to capture in my puny mind the rest of the digits. This is the first one of these I have ever seen, no agency markings, moderate holster wear. Have heard of them but this is my first. Open to any comments......oh, it was priced $499.99

I had one and posted the tale of it here on the forum. Sold it to another forum member who is hopefully enjoying it.
They were created in a limited run for NYSP. Basically a pre-model 13. In fact there were examples of S&W stamping the 3 over the 0 creating a double stamped model.
Mine shot very well, but I parted with to buy something else (a model 19-2) I wanted more.
Too bad you didn't grab it, because they are way up in price these days. The only few I have seen for sale in the last couple of years went north of $1k.

Think of it as a Pre 13, which is what they became. Neat gun, should be priced like a shooter grade 13, but I think there is a bit of a cool factor involved.....

Hi

These were built to satisfy a special order from the New York State Police. This model later became the Model 13-1 (there never was a Model 13 without the dash).

The one you saw is within the proper serial range for it to have shipped to the NY department in 1974, but only a letter can tell you for sure.

They did not carry agency markings.

If the gun is in decent shape, that price isn't bad, in my opinion. I think I paid about the same for mine, which has been verified by Roy as being one of the NY guns. If you have any interest at all, I suggest you go grab it up. They are fun to own and they shoot well.

Mine is OVERSTAMPED. As you can see in the 3 photos below
First one is the 13-1 stamped over the 10-6
Second one has the 10-6 enhanced
Third has the 13-1 enhanced
Then a couple of shots of the whole gun
