Can someone tell me about a model 10-7 square butt with 3 inch heavy barrel? Finish is dull. What is it worth?

For just the gun itself (no box or contents), assuming it is in good mechanical condition, blued ones tend to run around $250-$300, and nickel $300-$350, in good to excellent condition. That's locally for me, you may find them for more or less elsewhere.
You should be able to shine up a dull finish by lightly polishing.

There were relatively few 3" barrel 10-7s, many more 10-8s in pinned and unpinned versions were made. If the finish is worn but it is mechanically sound $300 would be about right, higher if it is just in need of a good cleaning.

J&G had them a few years ago (supposed to be re-imported from an Australian police agency) for something like $199 in very good condition. Of course shipping, FFL fees, hand-select options, etc, were extra.

This one is a great shooter and well worth the price I paid, import stamp and all.

The gun I just looked at looks just like the gun in the picture. Even had the same markings on the frame. The finish was gone and you could see brown "rust" on both sides. The owner wanted $275. I came home without it......

jimmyjoe, Bud's has the Model 10's for $269.00 shipping included. They only have 4 inchers at this time. You don't know what dash you will get. I received a 10-8 from them. In my book, a great value! Bob

I paid a LITTLE more for this one, but's it's not import-stamped, came with the box and paperwork and is in really nice shape. Typical great-shooting M10.

Mine is a great shooter too. It now sports a Tyler-T Grip so I should probably take some new pictures. I usually put targets on my revolvers, but I thought the T Grip plus the original wood enhanced its carry-ability.

When it came in to my FFL, he checked it over and told me it has one of the best actions he's ever seen. He didn't seem to want to let go of it! I guess those Aussie armourors know what they are doing.

That's a beauty, OIF2.

Are the ones from Bud's import stamped?

The one you looked at may have originally come from J&G Sales, just like mine did. IIRC they had various grades, from "About Good" to "Very Good - Hand Select". The one you saw was probably in the "About Good" group. IIRC, the J&G's price was $189 for those, give or take.

Still probably a fine shooter and if it is to be carried the finish doesn't matter. However, I would have walked too. Even at today's prices, that sounds too high.

craig19, the ones from Bud's have a removable sticker on them, not stamped. The sticker is neat. I left mine on! It blends in with the gun, and tells a story so to speak! Bob

A sticker I can live with. I died a little inside when I saw a Colt Gold Cup on GB yesterday with import markings on it.
