10-8 Marked NY222 ????

I picked up a 10-8 4" barrel with serial # C 840XXX the barrel is pinned but the cly is not recessed the book says a it should be a 1977 how ever the serial # says its is a 1966-67 ?
On the back strap is engraved NY222.
Any info would help .

The cylinder will NOT be recessed, only magnums and 22's were.
Could be a NYPD officer's badge number.
