Just picked this Model 64-2 and I think dates to 1976-1977 1D serial number isn’t listed in most online lists- but the -2 dates to somewhere around 1977, 2” snub barrel, gas ring from token to cylinder.

Forcing cone looks recut, or maybe it was never fired?

Has “M.D.C.-907-3” stamped in the back strap. I thought maybe Massachusetts Dept of Correction, because it came from an area with a few prisons local, but have no real way of knowing what that stamp means unless anyone knows.

I have a 4” 64-8 and a snubnose model 10 blued, and I think these three are my favorite K frames that I own.

Metropolitan District Commission. The Mets patrolled roads and state parks in and around Boston and merged with the State Police in 1990. The letters MDC led to many unkind nicknames, the most common was Massachusetts Dumbest Cops.

I've never even heard of them. I just looked them up, not a lot of info on them, but like you said maybe state park cops that merged with the water and sewer authority? May explain why it looks unfired- probably sat in a leather holster on the hip of some state park and recreation guy for 30 years.

The Mets had significant corruption issues. They masterminded a huge bank robbery which took place over a long weekend and they broke into hundreds of safe deposit boxes. Many boxes heldMafia loot. The Mafia quickly solved the crime. They were not pleased.
A Met Captain Gerald Clement broke into the State office that handled police promotion exams and changed his friends scores to 100%.A lot of dirty cops then became Chiefs of police.

Wow that’s crazy! Maybe that’s why there’s not a lot of history on them online

“The Cops Are Robbers” DEPOSITORS TRUST BANK HEIST | Project Marino
is this what you were referring to? The Medford Square Depositors Trust Bank heist over memorial day in 1980?

Even a movie about the heist [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsSzZLzYetA[/ame]
