Is it possible to use 1006 magazines in a single stack 4013 reliably. And if so is there a grip adapter that would fill the gap?

There is a thread or three about using the 1006 mags in the 1013 conversions.

The mags do require modification to fit in the 4013/4014 mag well. They work 100%. I have 4 or 5 that are set up for my 1014

Bad_Man_1 even tells how he made grip adapters for some of his.
