I am new here so thought I would start some thoughts.
I still have my 1006 bought in 1992 or 3 how many 3rd gen 10mms owners in the forum.

1006 with aftermarket sights and stainless steel guide rod.

I have two, both frame-mounted decocker models. The first is the full-size 1026 and the second is a Kentucky State Police contract 1076.

I have (2)1006's, 1026, 1066, (2)1076's and (2)1086's

That's why I started to make conversion barrels,
You need a conversion barrel to shoot more with less costly ammo than the 10 m.m.

Just in case you didn't know about this.
http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-...ction-has-started-40-s-w-357-sig-barrels.html

Available remaining barrels;

In the 9 m.m. bore, (9x19, .356 TSW, .357 SIG, 9x23 Winchester and 9x25 Dillon)
There are;
2 - 4.25" barrels available and
1 - 5.00" barrels available. (LAST ONE)

Slightly more remaining in the .40 S&W/10 m.m. bore, because I figured for twice the quantity.
There are;
5 - 4.25" barrels available and
14 - 5.00" available.

Regards,
BM1

Just bought a 1006 a couple weeks ago -- like new, in box, with papers & four magazines. :D

Hope to have time to try it out this weekend & get some pictures.

Yep! 10mm tried and True!
I have a few...

1006, here, fixed sights. Reloading the 10 mm is a liberating way to shoot a lot through your very "robust" pistol.

I only have 1026, 1006, and 1076 but would alway like more.

Scooter, Thanks! I have had the Bar-Sto Match Grade 40S&W and the 9x25Dillon converson barrels for the 1006 5" for some extra excitement and enjoyment. The S&W 10mm guns cabable of using 40S&W / 357SIG / 9x25Dillon cartridges and even others with just a barrel swap makes for great additions to the platform.

Bad Man 1, is in the process of making a few barrels for these as we type...so I am excited about getting a few other barrels for the 4.25" and 5.00" model guns. Those who have or are considering conversion barrels for their 10XX series pistols should get in on barrel production he has going on! He has stepped up with his expertise to provide us some conversion barrels that should provide great shooting and or collecting value to your 10mm series pistols...

1006, 1066, 1076 & 1086. Next in line is a 1046 although a 1026 will probably find it's way into the safe before one of the ultra rare 1046's does. I also have a set of 40 S&W & 357 SIG barrels reserved from BM1 for my 1066, 1076 and 1086. Now if I could only find one of each of the FBI hi cap mags to go with my 1076. If you don't reload for the 10mm you are missing the boat on the capabilities of the 10mm round and spending way to much on ammo to feed your beast.

I had a #1076 which I could not hit with very well. I swapped it to a man on this forum, and said I would never get another.

So, here is my recently acquired S&W #1006. It was priced right, so I could not resist, plus it does not have that ill-designed decocker lever.

1006 here.

I like to load 180s and 200s with AA#9 or Blue Dot at pre-1990 levels. It's as close as S&W gets to Ruger tough, so load it like a real 10!

I have a 1066, 1086 (2) 1006 one fixed sight and one adjustable (2) 1026 (2) 1076. I regularly shoot the adjustable sight 1006, a 1026 and a 1076. One 1076 was bought back when the first FBI models hit the market, I carried it for 15 years or more. The adjustable sight 1006 I use for deer hunting, it is amazing how accurate these pistols are.
