Have any of you guys put the Hogue wood grips on a 5906 or similar 3rd gen?

I really like the look of the checkered rosewood and checkered cocobolo grips and am thinking about getting a set for my 5906.

I usually use this gun as a house gun/range gun as I tend to carry 4013's/4014 for EDC. I like the thin OEM grips for that purpose.

The Hogue wood grips look to be a little bit thick (compared to 1911, Beretta and other similar semi-auto wood grips I've used).

What's the consensus?

I had a pair/set for my 4006. Beautiful grips but just to thick for my paws. I'm staying with the OEM grips on it and my newly acquired 4013TSW.
I wish someone made carbon fiber grips!!

Carbon fiber or even Aluminum. I agree that the wood, though beautiful is just too thick for my hands too.

I believe that i saw a set of factory grips that had been hydro printed with wood grain that turned out great looking. That is looking like the best option for slim wood grips while retaining the factory checkering

I ordered a set of Hogue smooth woods to put on my 5906, and they were just too thick for me, and I have large hands. I have heard some say that Hogue checkered woods don't feel so thick, sounds strange, but that is what I have heard several owners say. Anyway, I went back to the original Smith & Wesson hard plastic grips and have become quite satisfied with them.

I have always hoped that Hogue would make an aluminum grip for the 3rd gennys like they do for the Sigs. If they offered it in a few basic colors and unfinished as well so you could finish it like you wanted it, I would purchase a good many.
