1076 question

I recently purchased a 1076 and was told by the previous owner that it was part of an order for the Virginia State Police. I was wondering the VSP utilized the 1076. I'm aware the FBI and Kentucky State Police used it, but hadn't heard about Virginia. If so, would anyone know the time frame it was issued and approximately how many were used by the agency? Thanks for any help!

Don't know the time frame but VSP and the Raleigh, NC Police Department both used the 1076. Not sure about Virginia, but the Raleigh guns were not agency marked.

This has no agency markings, so not easy to tell without a letter, most likely. Even then it will probably show it being shipped to a distributor.

Call S&W. They may tell you where it was shipped to. Which may or may not show it to be a VSP gun even if it is one. But it may give you more information.

VSP did carry the 1076 .. It's my understanding that patrol was issued the 1026 and detectives/support was issued the 1076..
