I read somewhere on the forum that there was a recall on the 1076. I bought mine used so don't have much history on it.
I read that there would be two dots around the decocker marking that it had been fixed. I couldn't find any dots etc so I called Smith and Wesson in Late July.

They sent me a shipping label and I dropped it off at a FEDEX Hub. Pretty smooth process and the CS was top notch.

FEDEX just dropped it off to me this afternoon. :)

I was shocked myself. Pretty happy with Smith. Talked to several folks that are now in TN, but service is still up North.

Did they put the dots under the decocker? I sent in my brothers 1076 a while back, they said they did the recall fix, but didn't mark it.

What is/was the problem?

The original grips are brittle. If the gun is dropped on the grips, the grip can break and in the case of a 3rd gen pistol make it unusable. So they replace the grips. I don't think they do anything else.

Different recall. The grips themselves have a dimple on the bottom indicating they are new material. This recall affected lots of models.
There was a different recall on the frame decocker gun that was indicated by 2 dimples under the decocker.

I thought was the 1066 with the decocker issue, I have one?
EDIT: I meant to say 1076, the 1066 has the slide mounted de-cocker, I knew that? Jeesh, I got too many guns? lol

I used to send in my used S&W revolvers and pistols in for a looking over just because it was free. I used to purposely not send the mags. They usually sent me the gun back with a free mag in it.

I had that happen once with a Sigma. Never had it happen with any other model. :(

Funny they wanted the magazines returned also. I wonder what mag issues they were looking for, and if they were marked after inspection as well.

I never had them ask me to send in mags. I have probably sent in close to 10 pistols for various things.
