Picked this up today.

If it shoots as good as it looks, and I have little doubt, I'll be a very happy camper.

Traded a P239 in on it, but was planning on getting a G19 for carry anyway.

Had to put some boot with it, $600 total invested.
Thats prolly low end these days I think?
I bought a 1006 for 375 with 4 mags a couple years ago, those days are long gone!

Two thumbs up. Welcome to the 1076 club. I have two but always looking for more.

Took it out to the range today with some reloads I worked up last night.
Shot great, no issues.

All I had on hand was some 180 fmj's and AA-5 powder.
Don't think this combo will hit top gear n the 10mm.
8.3 to 9.2 grains (max in the book). Started to get a little push when I got to the 9.0 range and up!

Highest velocity achieved was 1076 fps., book says 1200 with this load.
I think with a 6.5" 610 I may have reached 1150-1175 with the same load. Not barn burners, will have to pick up some AA-7 and try again, maybe Power pistol too!

I was thrilled to buy a #1076 but hated the design of the decocker lever. I traded that one off for a S&W #65 3" HB, RB, and later bought a S&W #1006 which I really like. I once owned a Sig P239 in .40 S&W which I never warmed up to. The Sig never felt right to me. I replaced it with a Sig P225 and have been happy ever since.

I have very good luck in my 1076 with both AA-7 and HS-6 powders. In my gun, the lighter the bullets, the better they seem to shoot. There is not a lot of difference between 180s, 165s, and 155s, but for some reason I do not have great luck with 200s. All my shooting has been with Hornadys, except for one box of 150-gr Sierras.

Congratulations on finding a nice 1076. They are a little heavy, but certainly are pleasant guns to shoot, compared to a 10mm 1911, IMHO. :)

I wasn't a big fan of the frame mounted decocker at first, but now I prefer it to the slide mounted one on my 4566.

LOVE the frame-mounted decocker models!

My 1026 and Kentucky State Police Contract 1076.

Awesome. The slide mounted decocker/safety was the one thing the kept me away from S&W autos for so long. I hate hate hate them. I can not manipulate them with my shooting thumb, same thing with the Berettta 92, I won't own one for that reason alone.

That's why I grabbed a 1076. I've since found some S&W autos have slide mounted decoker only that springs back up to the fire position automatically. That I can live with.

I'd love a 1026 some day.

Great find you have there.

Take a look at Longshot. According to the Hodgdon Data site, it makes for the fastest loads.

I opted for a Delta Elite myself, and am still in the process of gathering brass, etc. I'm still looking for a pound of Longshot myself, and am hoping to pick one up next week. My goal is a 180 gr XTP at 1250 fps and a 200 gr XTP at 1150 fps.

Anyone else load with Longshot?

I love my DE, but that's still a sweet looking pistol!
