Sorry, I missed by a few days, but...

On April 29th, 1900...

Was the wreck of the Illinois Central fast passenger train #1 in Vaughan MS, with engine No. 382, when it collided with cars from a freight train that had lost air brakes and couldn't be moved until repaired.

What was amazing about that wreck- there was only one fatality, the engineer. His bravery and intricate skill of knowing his engine saved countless lives on that train.

Bet you can't guess who that famed engineer was...

You right Peyton about Casey Jones. I have visited the site in Vaughn, Ms several time. At the last moment he had the fireman jump saving his life

Casey Jones it was.

It is possible to go and see the big ten-wheeler that he was killed on that night, because it is sitting outside the museum of his name.
