I might be on America's Funniest Videos trying to get the 10th rnd in both mags of my new M&P .45acp, but there is no freak'n way it's going in! I even got a screwdriver to push the 9 rnds down, and it took a lot of my 180 lbs leaning on it just to get the other rnds down. No way can I push them down far enough with my fingers. I have a 9mm Sig and loading 15 rnd mags are simple. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks - Bill

You are doing nothing wrong just let it sit for a few days and it will loosen up and #10 will fit. That's what I did with mine. Also shooting will lessen them up.

Also try taking them apart and cleaning them. Bought 6 mags new last year (4 ten round, two 14 round) for my 45FS and the four 10-round mags would not take the 10th round. I had a smaller mag loader and went to the UpLULA hoping for better results, finally took the mags apart and cleaned them. Found tiny bits of metal binding the follower. Probably would have worked itself out eventually but the wipe down did the trick.

P.S. I like the UpLULA.

I just ordered one for myself.

My hands aren't getting any younger...

No problem here. all 5 mags load up to the top by hand or with the UpLULA. I would also recommend taking them apart and cleaning them.

Yeah, puttin' eight in my 45C was a Herculean effort until I bought my Uplula, especially since I'm a lefty the the cutout is on the "wrong" side. Problem solved!

I think I'll break the ice & mention Uplula, lol.

I found that with time & loading & reloading mags it became easier to do it by hand. When I first got my 40C the only way I could get 10 rounds in the mag was to jack the ninth round in the chamber & adding another round to the mag. That of course negates the 10+1 idea. No probs at all with the Uplula & now I can do it by hand but I don't. I'm spoiled & besides it's faster.

Another vote for the Uplula. Works like a champ on all my mags, single and double stack...

Cut one spring out, two is even better. I did it with all mine and they work much better. No problems whatsoever, and you don't have to jam them into the gun

Not a good idea. Your mags may function fine in the short term and be easy to load BUT for a carry weapon, they will fail way before their time. Maybe at the worst possible moment, even if you rotate your carry mags regularly.

As posted above - If you can't load your mags to full capacity then get an Uplula...

It's nice to come home from the range and reload 15 mags in a couple of minutes using my Uplula. Of course not having one was a good excuse to grab a cold beer to wrap that sore thumb around.

Yup.....uplula. Or load those magazines fully and let them sit for a few days. That might take the fight out of them. It worked with my M&P 15 10 rd magazine.

As I mentioned in previous posts: Grind about an eighth inch off the legs of the follower and they will all go in. I did this to all six of my magazines and a couple dozen for my friends. They all work 100% and load the last round easily.

I to have experienced this on brand new 10 rd 45 mags. My most recent M&P45 had one mag that did not want to take the 10th round. What I did was unload it completely, give the mag a firm rap on the base plate with my palm then reload. It took all 10 rds no problem after that. First time I ever tried the love tap method. A good friend of mine who's been gun smithing for awhile told me to try this. He said sometimes the springs can get out of seat / place during shipping. I thought to myself yeah right. But it worked. Either the spring was off or in a bind just a tad, but unloading and reloading worked.

I have also done the 9 rd load and let it sit/wear in before with good results. I would check the spring & baseplate first before modifying or dremelling the follower.
Hope this helps.

Patrick
