I didn't misspell it. Doc called Monday and said let's go down to "the ranch." It's way down by Lake Alfred and is owned by his good friend who is in the last stages of ALS. "His kids will sell it after he passes." I'm conserving ammo so I brought 1 box 9mm ball and 50 rds assorted 12 ga. We practiced "quick draw and fire" from the holster at 6 and 15 ft. The CZ P 07 is deadly from the hip and chest without aiming or extending arm. The decocker is way better than the lever on my old 6906, dropping the hammer between shots.
Broke out the Beretta 1201 FP and Mossberg 590. I've had both guns since before 1995 but still unfired. I had other SD 12 ga so I had no need. Well, I'm down to these 2, the Fabarms Golden Clays and a H&R model 88 single shot. I had more than 50 rds of mixed ammo, given to me over the years.
Haevy 3", AA Win, 3" Brenneke slugs, Buckshot.
The Beretta digested everything but I found the necessity of a chambered round for the gun to function correctly was a deal breaker. Since I keep the shotgun tube with 4 rds buck and the hammer down on an empty chamber, can't do it with this gun.
The 590 was a winner although the slugs were brutal. Fed and functioned with everything. 2 problems did occur: One Brenneke hull got stuck in the chamber. Did pop out on second try. Seemed very high pressure. Had a "high brass" load split the brass down to the rim. Upon inspection, it was a paper hull and very old. I found another in the remaining rounds (pic). 40 rounds through both guns was enough for one (rainy, cow pies everywhere) day. Joe

I had a Beretta 1201 FP also and had the same feelings about that you do. The loading process and the funky buttons made it too complicated for a go to gun. Got rid of it and lost $10 on the deal.

I think it's meant as a "safety feature" on autoloaders. My Fabarms "Golden Clays" model is exactly the same. Open the action, drop one on the elevator, push button, load one in the tube (only holds 2 in the tube max). Makes sense there but not in a HD shotgun (in my opinion). Joe
