12g 3" 1000M?

I'm looking at a Smith 1000M, enhanced engraving?, nice wood, blued metal, absolutely mint. My local gunshark is asking $350. Seems a lot like my Rem 11-87. My first impression was wow. Any cautions or words of wisdom. I'm looking for another 12g. Thanks

S&W 1000

My 3" gun will not eject 2 3/4 shells. Not even buck shot. just be aware.

The 20 ga 1000M I owned would not cycle using reduced loads. The newer S&W shotguns (1010-1012?) often came with two gas pistons so they could use reduced loads.

Your REM 11-87 will run with almost any load. Not true of that S&W. $350 is too much IMO unless it comes with extra gas pistons.

Only problem I've had with any of my Model 1000s is the gas piston shock absorber turned to goo on a few of them.
If you want to shoot 2 3/4" shells in the 1000M you will need to get another barrel that has a 2 3/4" chamber.
