I just ordered a new model 14-8 38SPL Classic. I should have it by the end of next week. Just wondering from the people out there who have them how you have come to or not to like them. Sure would like to see pictures also you can never have enough gun pictures. I know it's got the lock and MIM parts but I can live with it. i'm guessing that I'm going to have to save up for some ivory blanks to make a set of grips for it.
I often wondered how they shoot being made so precisely. I'll be watching this post to find out. Make sure you update you're post and let us know how yours shoots. Larry
Took the gun shop I bought it from a while to get it to me but today it arrived. Wow this is one nice gun the fit and finish are great san's some mismatch on the grips. I cant get to the range until Tuesday but I'll give a performance report after that.
That looks great!. I have a Classic 27 and a 1917 that has a casehardened frame. They are wonderfully fitted and the blued finish is outstanding. They are every bit as nice as my -2 revolvers.

I took the 14-8 to the range today after installing a nice 1/3 rd coverage set of elk grips made by Patrick Grashorn. It was an indoor range that allows factory ammo only. I have about 30 boxes of Federal's American Eagle 38Spl. 158 gr. LRN. This ammo has proved to be accurate in any 357/38 gun I have shot it in and this gun was no exception. Even after 150 rounds the accuracy was just as good as when i first started shooting it. Shooting two handed and off hand at 7 1/2 yards it was pretty much a one hole gun with the hole becoming 1 inch in diameter after many shots. Never at that distance did i remember seeing two different holes at one time. Moving out to 15 yards pretty much just doubled eveything that happened at 7 1/2 yards except at first the holes were not always touching and the hole became slightly over two inches. At 25 yards groups were about 2 1/2 inches horizontal by 4 inches vertical. Although the action is crisp and clean on this gun it is a little heavy and becomes tiring after so many rounds. I have already ordered a spring kit for the hammer and the trigger from Wolff Gun Springs and will experiment with the different spings to see if I can lighten up the trigger some without slowing down the action to much. Even with the trigger being slightly heavy this gun is a joy to shoot and I'm very happy with it MIM and IL included. When I got home I wiped the gun down and ran some Hoppe's NO. 9 soaked patches down the bore a few times and then a few passes with some dry patches. If there was any lead in the bore or forcing cone it was so fine that it just looked like the carbon comming out on the patches. Overal this is a great gun as any I've owned and one I wish I would have gotten this gun long before this.I cant wait to use it on the Michigan swamp bunnies this winter. All I can say is if you dont own this gun in it's old or new form you need one.
