I just got back from my local indoor range w/ my 15-22. The round count today was 500 Minimags w/ no malfunctions or any sort.

When I got home to tally the total round count, I discovered that it was 15,100. The count is really not to the round as such but figured by the number of boxes.

I've had the rifle for a little over three years. My particular rifle was one of the large quantity that needed to be sent back to S&W for updates, whatever they were. Other than that little rifle has performed admirably.

I think I'll keep it.

Wow! 15K rounds. Good job! Have you noticed any decline in accuracy?

He shouldn't. The life of a .22 LR barrel is well in excess of 100k. I have a 1963 High Standard Trophy SupraMatic that has well over 50k through it and, from a machine rest, will still put 10 rounds into the 10 ring on a standard 25-yard slow-fire target at 25 yards.

Excellent!!!

Kinda amazing how fast a round count can climb on a fun and affordable rifle to shoot. I'm right behind you at 14,750. Bought mine 2/2011. And like you, I am happy enough that I bought a 2nd one. My poor 10-22's haven't been out of the safe in years. (they'll get over it ;) )

As far as decline in accuracy, none what so ever. Infact the throat is in great shape and has no erosion what so ever. But honestly I didn't expect to see any. The 22lr is a low velocity / low pressure round. The barrel will out last me :)

You guys really keep track of every round you shoot? I have too much fun shooting mine to keep track :).

Yea, but that's part of the fun after you leave the range. I can relive the experience thru my shooting logs. ;)

Yea I know, I have no life.... :D

Not w/ the rifle but I have noticed that I don't see as well as I used to.

I keep track of the boxes but not the rounds. I shoot a box of 525 or Mini mag 100's and mark it down. I don't keep track of the other .22s.

With the current situation of 22LR being made of unobtanium, I have realized that I am a hoarder. I bet I have 10K on hand but for the life of me I cannot muster up the courage to shoot any. I blew through 15K last summer and cannot do that this year lest I'll be running on empty.

As far as round count on my various M&P15-22:

Wife's Pink Platinum approx 8K with nearly no FTE and maybe a handful of FTF due to poor mag loading

My Realtree APG camo approx 3K with no FTE, no FTF

The (ours?) 15-22P approx 5K with around 14 FTE, bunch of FTF due to poor mag loading. Pretty sure the FTE on the pistol version is due to "limp wristing".

15K on one is a nice milestone for you!

Maybe I'll actually shoot mine once 22LR ammo is available by the case once again...

And what have we learned from the last year? This type of thing has happened before and will, no doubt, happen again. Next time should be a breeze after what you've learned this time. We old timers have seen it and were prepared.

Pink Platinum, huh?

I like to hear these stories of large amounts of rounds fired.

Gives me confidence that my 15-22's will be around for a long time.

I have had mine for about 2 years and around 20k rounds thru the PC model. Only had the standard one for about 10 months and have put about 7k thru it. By the time I get thru shooting the 2013 Ruger Rimfire WC in July that gun should be close to 12k.

My camo 15-22 only had 1K thru it when I sold it.

My 15-22P has over 5K thru it; sold the camo version because it was taking up space in the safe after the pistol took its place. Such a Fun gun.

Bought 2 standard black versions this year just because they were at the LGS. 1K thru each so far.

Bought a Pink one for my grand daughter but it has not been shot yet. She did go to the range with her dad last weekend and fired her first shots out of his AR.

How often did you clean it?

I've never seen a .22 LR with a shot-out barrel. Your rifles will still be shootable long after you are gone. :)
I have a warm fuzzy feeling reading that reassurance...
I have a match pistol with something over 60-70K through it. It still keeps 10 rounds in the 10-ring on a 25-yard slow fire target.

Major's not kidding...
I've got a bunch of Bolt-action trainers from at least the 50's, 60's and early 70's that can still punch a single ragged hole if I do my part.
I can't even begin to give you a round count on them after all these years but suffice to say it's a ****load.:p
I've got a buddy who has his grand-pop's Winchester 1903 Deluxe(It's no SQ) and
although ammo for that has been hit or miss the last 20yrs or so, it's accuracy is never questioned.

Seriously, as long as you take good care of .22s,
your grand-kids grand-kids will be enjoying them long after you taken "the Big Dirt-nap".:D

.22's are the 1 rifle that's meant to be handed down from father to son/daughter and so on...
{Although I've given mine a trainer each, I still can't decide which 1:confused: get's my dedushka's(дедушка) lever action when I pass go.:)}

God Bless and Stay Safe,
