Should I use Loctite Blue on the threads to prevent the barrel nut from getting loose?

How often should I remove the nut and barrel for a complete cleaning?

Thanks

It is not necessary. I have removed and reinstalled my barrels several times for maintenance and have never had a barrel nut loosen up on me. When I tighten mine I go "snug" and 1/4 turn. It's what works for me.

Thanks.

bamashooter, do you mean you DON'T use any type of grease, even anti-seize?

Don't waste your time pulling the barrel for cleaning. The barrel nut threads are very fine and are not made for repeated disassembly. Plus the more you have the barrel out the more likely it is that you will damage the ejector. I have over 20,000 rounds through my 15-22 and have only had the barrel out to replace the handguard. Easy enough to clean with the barrel in place.

Do as Kp321 says. I overlooked that part. Absolutely no need for removal regarding any level of cleaning. Leave well enough alone.

For AR style rifles, it is generally unnecessary to remove the barrel for a cleaning, this holds true for the 15-22 as well.

I use Aeroshell on barrel nuts for my builds, which is common practice. And then I torque the barrel nuts to spec.
