Took my new mod. 15-22 to the range today, loved it. Weather was snowing , cold windy, so I just did function testing and rough sight in. After reading some on line reviews, I was expecting some stoppages, but ran several mags full with 0 problems. My only regret is I didn't know about the MOE version until after I bought my standard rifle.
I have some questions about accessories, I want to put a red dot on it, and was considering a Vortex SPARC or a Bushnell TRS-25. Any thoughts on these or other recommendations? Will either of these two optics co-witness with the factory sights?
Any recommendations on the best place to buy additional magazines?

thanks in advance for your help/insights.

I have the primary arms micro dot with the quick detach riser and it's been awesome so far. Check out some reviews on it.

Congrats and welcome to the forum Ralph.

I like my MOE FDE 15-22. I have the Bushnell TRS-25 with the UTG .83 rizer on my gun and it is full cowitness. The 1" rizer will give you 1/3 cowitness through the red dot. This works great with the flipup MBUS sights, but I don't know how well it works with the regular sights. I bought my Bushnell for 69.99 from Amazon.com.

Buy a bunch of ammo and have fun.

Bought several factory mags from 44mag.com about a week ago. Very fast shipping with a reasonable price.

Congratulations on the purchase of your 15-22, the preeminent .22LR AR type rifle! Magazines. Check Midway, Midsouth. Also check the classifieds here. If you see any of the ProMag magazines, either 10 rd. or 32rd, buy them. The 10 rd. magazines are easily converted to 32 rds. And the PM magazines run perfectly. Load them or the S&W magazines with attention to the alignment of the round in the magazine and your 15-22 will gobble the stuff up. JMHO. Sincerely. brucev.

I have a SPARC on every rifle I own, including the 15-22. I do have the MOE edition, and the SPARC is in absolute cowitness with the Magpul MBUS. It comes with a variety of risers, so I'm sure you can get a setup that works, whether you want absolute or lower 1/3 cowitness.

Botach.com shows the 25rd mags in stock for 19.99 free shipping. Some have had bad experiences w/ them, but I bought a couple of mags from them last week on a Tuesday and had them by Friday.

I agree I like the Sparc also on my AR15's. Palmetto State Armory has them on sale with $50 off makes them $149.99 right now, and I like that they come with the different risers and 2x Magnifier if you need it. The Primary Arms Micro Dot get high reviews here also and are about 1/2 the price.

Thanks to all that have replied. I am going to order 2 more mags from Midway and try out a Sparc red dot. The Bushnell looks good also, but I like the fact the Sparc comes with multiple sizes heights of risers.
I appreciate the welcome to the forum, seems like a friendly bunch here. I am primarily a Mauser collector, and belong to a couple Mauser sites, and candidly they are not all that inviting to new people with base level questions.

Speaking of questions, I have one more. I want to put a single point sling on my rifle, with its light weight, seems like a good option. I didn't know about the MOE version when I bought my rifle, short of drilling a hole in my receiver for a swivel, what are my options. Since the 'buffer tube" does not screw into the receiver, how do I attach a sling adapter?

thanks, R1d

I recommend the Primary Arms micro red dot over the Bushnell TRS-25
I own both
The PA is of much better quality and can usually be had for less $

I've used the Primary Arms MicroDot for years and have been quite pleased. Its one of the best dime store optics IMO. Primary Arms is top shelf with customer service too. If you are wondering how well these optics hold up to use... Check this out.Primary Arms Micro Dot Gen 3 Toss/Drop Fun - YouTube

The Bushnell and Vortex are also very good. Lots of positive reviews here. You can't go wrong with any of the three.

I put the TRS-25 high rise on mine. The highrise base came already mounted to the TRS-25. It works great and I love it. I also have Magpul Gen 2 folding polymer sights on it. The sights cowitness in the lower 1/3 of the red dot sight.
