15-22 pricing question

I got my Black MOE for $600 from the North Carolina Gun Show a few weeks ago. I was skeptical about the price at first but after shooting about a thousand rounds through it and only having one jam using low velocity ammo, I fell in love!

Academy is still getting them in... At least here in texas. I got another one there as I stop in every other day or so to check ammo stock... They do not put them out on display but keep them in the cage. You must ask for them by name. They are $479 - $519.

The problem is finding mags and ammo.

Do they still get green ones?

Picked my blk MOE Wednesday, for $539.00. I am a happy camper. Sold my plain Jane 15-22 to my brother last year. Pulled my range bag out with the 22's stuff in it and found 4 magazines in it - 2 10 rd mags for the Appleseed and 2 25 rders. Even more happier now!

I picked up a black 15-22 MOE for $600 about two weeks ago. I wasn't upset with the price because around here they are hard to find.

Saw one at WalMart yesterday for $427. Theirs are a little odd though because they do not have the "bird cage" on the end of the barrel.

That's the standard model without the threaded barrel and compensator.

Update

So here I was thinking "OK, I'll just wait it out and something cheaper has to come along...eventually..." Anyway, I walked into one of my LGS this morning to make my weekly ammo buy and there she was...standing in a case set apart from the rest of the inventory!

The guy said they just got it in (it still had cardboard fuzz on it from the box). NJ model, $499 :) Did the paperwork on the spot and pre-paid for it. The gun, 2 boxes of .40 and 300 rounds of .22 set me back $622, $80 less then what the other place had for just the gun. I'll hopefully be able to take it home Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest. Grabbed some extra 10-round magazines from TA as soon as I got home.

Thanks so much for all the feedback, I really appreciate it!

NJ compliant 15-22's are next to impossible to find and most dealers in NJ are being told months to get one. I was somewhat lucky to find a compliant 15-22 at Cabelas in PA. Since PA doesn't have any "assault" gun restrictions, my 15-22 was somewhat of an orphan on the shelf. It was $549 and I figured I wasn't going to take a chance on missing it over $50. So I bought it on the spot .....after a 3 hr background check!!

Yes sir! That's what I got and I love it!

$459 plus TT&L

I found a green one but Academy won't sell to me because my state doesn't border Texas

They won't even shop it to a dealer in my state.

I bought one online from Griggs in WA yesterday. Black with threaded barrel, adjustable stock, 25 rd mag or $498. Shipping was $25. Couldn't find any at all here in Houston that was less than $550 or $600 plus tax. Griggs also sold me a box of CCI blazer (525 rds) for 29.99. Not too bad of a price given the market today. Been looking for a green one but gave up. Probably will do some hydrographics on the different parts of the rifle.

I bought mine 2 weeks ago at Academy. It was $599 for the MOE version. I've heard of people purchasing the MOE new for around $535 though.

Blaster, I will check the next time I'm in for you... Both woodlands locations have had them in the last two months.

And by the way. You do not allow private messages sent to you. I tried several times.

Found a nice PA dealer about a month ago with a MOE in FDE on GB. Called and talked to the owner and he made me a deal over the phone. He had another one in the shop they were going to list after the first one sold. $600 using my credit card and that included shipping.

I liked the idea of going to a legit biz and using the CC card gave me some protection.

So you might try contacting a LGS direct if they have listed on GB.

I wouldn't pay more than $500, bought mine for $490 from a local small dealer that had converted a 10rd model to a 25rd one. Took it to the range for the first time a few weeks ago and not ONE problem with about 350 rounds shot through it. I actually could've picked one up for around $430 a month or so before but didn't have the money at the time. I was patient and paid a little more but still think I got a decent deal considering the CRAZY prices idiots were trying to charge for them. Some over $1k!

I'd say be patient, keep looking and you will find a good deal.

Re: OP. $700 is way beyond reasonable/rational. There are deals to be had on line and in local shops. I bought a standard 15-22 w/o flash hider for $447. I traded it last week and gave the shop owner $21 for a 15-22 w/ flash hider... so call it $468. Neat thing... when I first talked to one of the shop employees, he said the cash price was $509. Don't know why the owner was willing to take less. But talk to the local shops and see what they will do. At least in my area this LGS owner was willing to work a deal. Cool.
