I have been poking around in the picture thread looking at the sweet looking SBR guns!

I'm debating on SBR'ing my 15-22 and was looking for some input on it.

I know normally most all .22 ammo(even high velocity) will stay subsonic out of a 4.5" to 5.5" barrel.
How has shorting the barrel affected 25 to 50 yard accuracy?

Any problems with the functioning of the action after shortening the barrel? Spring changes needed?

Any major difference in amount of noise shooting subsonics with the short barrel versus the full length barrel?

Any info is welcomed.....don't want to chop the barrel and pay Uncle Sam $200 if it isn't going to be worth it.

I.always run CCI standard velocity, quiet, clean, very rarely have a bad round, accurate and only coat a few dollars more per box. I can hit 3" spinner targets offhand at 50 yards with a red dot, haven't tried farther so I would say it still has some accuracy to it with a 6" barrel. I hear wait times are up to 8 months at the ATF if you're lucky. My last form 1 took 6 months.

I forgot, I run the standard rifle bolt spring and its been flawless for thousands of.rounds, I never tried a pistol spring but its been working so I don't mess with it.

Why don't you just find one of the 15-22 pistol's; it has a 6 inch threaded barrel; they have been discontinued but can be found with a search.

I posted a photo of the difference in the bolt's between mine and my rifle.

Attach a sling to the back of it and go have some fun. it wont be as accurate as a rifle stock but in the end if you don't like it you can sell it and get your money back.

Low_Down.... my last form1 suppressor took 5.5 months and I have heard wait times are longer now.
I would like to see that video when you get it uploaded for sure! Post it to this thread if you don't mind.

Doc Robin.... I think i am wanting a rifle stock on mine for a little more accuracy than a pistol.

Thank you both for the input!

The form 1 for this rifle was approved in 45 days, I was damn lucky and I'm sure I'll never see those times again.

Probably not LOW_DOWN.....especially since they are legalizing suppressors for more hunting uses in some states. Will probably overload the BATF with applications.

I want a few more for bigger calibers, but I'm not interested in waiting a year just to have another at this point.

What suppressor are you running on your 15-22? The form1 I built is basically a standard K baffle. 6" in length.

This is a Tac65 on mine, works well for me although I would like a sparrow so I can use it on my .17 too

My can on my .17HMR kills the pop of the shot, but nothing can be done about the sonic crack. Sounds weird because it sounds like the crack is heard about 20 feet out from the gun(may be from me being behind the gun) IDK

My form has been in for 6 months this week. I got it back last week for corrections, all because it wasnt double sided, what a crock, hopefully I'm not looking at 6 months again. When I called ATF to check, they are telling people 6 months from pending. Takes about 3-4 weeks to hit pending.

Im going for a 10 inch barrel, I think that will be pretty reliable and reasonably accurate still.

My form was sent back for address correction, stamp showed up 2 weeks later.
