Not for storage. Store it in a cabinet. Heck, back in the box. I see too many rusted weapons come out of cases. Only a few, but too many.

mine stays in the Hard Plastic case with the padded eggcrate stuff in it, that the Manager at Academy gave me for my troubles with my 15-22 when i got it. Fits my 15-22 and 3 mags perfectly, its a 20 dollar case.

I recommend not doing that if possible. The egg crate foam can trap moisture and has been known to ruin many a firearm. Only use the cases for transportation. If you must store your firearm in a foam case, The next time your wife/girlfriend/significant other next go shoe shopping, go along, and commander some desiccant packs from the shoe boxes (from the ones shy buys). But the best place is in a cabinet/safe with some way to remove the moisture in the air. (the same thing goes for storing pistols in a leather holster).

A guy came into the gun shop a year or so ago with a revolver that looked like it had been at the bottom of the Pacific for a hundred years. He had it stored in one of those pistol pouches lined with that fuzzy furry stuff for just a few months.

heres mine its a Modgear 36x12x4". gun fits well, lots of storage and secures well. also well padded. 45$ from cheaper than dirt.

The range bags are great for transportation. But for long term storage, avoid ANYTHING that can hold/trap moisture in with the firearm.

My 15-22 resides in a UTG Covert Homeland Security Gun Case (32-Inch) that I bought for $33.50 shipped on Amazon.com.

(Amazon.com: UTG Covert Homeland Security Gun Case (32-Inch): Sports & Outdoors)

I keep a few of those silica bead packets in there. I'm not too worried about the moisture because it gets shot, cleaned, and oiled frequently.

There's some decent padding, room for a second gun, which only encourages me to buy another 15-22, and pouches for 3 magazines, or anything else such as a pistol, in a separate front pocket.

My aimpoint clone can be on the rail when the rifle is stored, but it makes for a tight fit.
