15-22 Trigger

The internal dimensions of the 15-22 receiver are mil-spec but the sidewalls are thicker. This leaves the ends of standard trigger pins slightly recessed but since they are secured internally, no problem. CMC offers longer anti walk pins for 15-22’s.

I’m trying to decide whether to stick with the OEM pins or use the anti-walk pins that came with my new Rise Blitz trigger. I initially installed the Rise pins but it isn’t clear to me when to stop tightening the screws. They seem flush with the side of the lower receiver but they didn’t seem like they were getting very snug. They aren’t loose but neither snug and I am hesitant to keep tightening them as I heard you could deform the polymer. Was considering going back to the oem pins just to eliminate any question but not sure if/when anti-walk pins are needed with a new trigger…?
 
I have an old school JP in mine… the one you have to fit the disconnector. With the yellow trigger and red hammer springs it has been light, crisp and reliable. I also cut the tail off the hammer to decrease lock time. Probably a wasted effort with a 15-22 and the bulk ammunition I use, but the cost was $0.

The Instructions I received from CMC said a maximum of 12 pounds torque for the CMC supplied screws on the their anti-walk pins. I used 10 pounds.

Does the Blitz trigger have locking features to retain the OEM pins? Many drop ins do not.

No, the Blitz trigger does not retain your OEM pins. Because the Blitz is a self-contained, drop-in cassette trigger, it relies on its own specially designed set of anti-walk pins to secure the housing in place.
Keep these factors in mind if you are upgrading:
  • Included Hardware: Every Blitz trigger comes with its own proprietary anti-walk/anti-rotation pins included at no extra cost to prevent the pins from walking out under heavy use.
  • Set Screws: While the pins go through the receiver, some drop-in triggers also rely on tension screws beneath the cassette to lock them firmly in place against the bottom of the receiver.

And unless the trigger was sold specifically for the 15-22 you would need different pins to accommodate the wider 15-22 receiver.
 
I now have over 600 rounds fired using the CMC Trigger. It seems to perform better (crisper) each time I take it to the range. :)
My grouping at 25 yards with CCI-SV is getting tighter (3/8th inch) and more consistent as the CMC Trigger gets "seasoned".
I have no regrets changing to the CMC Trigger versus the Rise Trigger. (y)
