First it was the 4506-1, then it was the 60 ND, and now after 3 months the 15-3 is finally home from Gun Store detention. 1 handgun every 30 days here in NJ.
Stocks match, serial number 1K720XX. Per my SCSW 1971.
Locks up tight as a bank vault.
Hammer and trigger look to be case hardened.
My first opportunity to shoot it won't be until this coming Monday.
Range report will follow.

Congrats on your acquisition!
You're gonna love that revolver!
I've been enjoying mine since 1984. By far, it's the most acurte revolver I own.

There certainly are a lot of K38 Combat Masterpiece fans around here. I have a couple early 50's 5 screw variations and a 4" nickel 15-4, but my favorite, seen below, was a special order shipped directly to Simon Atlas Co., Washington, DC on Sep. 3, 1974.

The earlier magnas were added by me.

I guess I'll have to get them all together for a family portrait.

15-3 Range Report

Well, My Lady's NICS check came back today so we went to pick up her first firearm. As long as we were there she shot her new Taurus 942M and I shot my new to me S&W model 15-3. The circle is 4" across and was shot from 7 yards away with Remington 158 grain RNL, single action.

It's pretty hard to not like a Model 15. I go back and forth between it, and the Model 19 as to which I actually like best, but since this is about the Model 15, it's in first place right now.

The Model 15 is simply elegant IMHO. Shorter, lighter cylinder and that wonderful tapered barrel. The Model 19 has a more musclar, look. Longer cylinder, heavy non tapered, ribbed barrel, shrouded ejector rod.
