A friend of mine (no, not me, really) turned the elevator screw too far on the rear sight of his 15-3. Now the rear sight seems to have sprung up. Can this screw be turned back in without removing the sight from the frame? Is the screw left hand or right hand? We tried pushing down on the sight leaf and turning the screw back in but nothing happened.

Thanks

Just unscrew the front screw and the whole sight should slide off (back and up) the rear of the gun.. The rear elevator uses a square pad that the rear screw treads into. If he loosened it too much it may of released the pad and fallen out? (It slides under a recess)Once ya take it off and check it out its fairly obvious how it goes back together.
Note: All this is assuming your friends 15-3 is the same as my 66.. But I believe the rear adjustable sights are very similar..

Thanks, I looked at the diagram in the FAQ section and that is how I was thinking the rear elevator worked. My concern was that like the horizontal adjustment screw something might be staked in place.
