I am new to S&W forum but have 6 S&W's, looking to add another to my small herd.

Have an opportunity to buy mint condition 15-3, 4 inch, high polish blue, TH,TT, standard grips, serial # 1K66217

What is the year of manufacture and fair market price?

Congrats on your first post, buckndee. :)

The 15-3 in question dates to 1971. TH/TT are a little unusual for a factory 15, though not unheard of.

If cosmetically and mechanically truly mint, or NRA Modern Gun Condition Standards "perfect" (I'll presume no box, tools or docs since you didn't mention them), I've seen similar ones go for as low as $450 and upwards of $550, on average and with the occasional outlier.

Thank you hapworth for the reply.

It has the faintest turn line that you have to look very hard to see. No bluing wear or scratches in the high polish blue. Checkered grips are uncomfortable to hold the dimonds are so sharp. It has been a bedroom night stand gun for 43 yrs.

I inspected it a month ago. Owner sent me photos today. Looks like a standard wide hammer and a semi-target combat smooth trigger.
Did some research on this forum to identify what their supposed to look like. Your right no box, papers or accessories.

Made an appointment for next week to talk price.

This caught my eye and had to look something up - One of my biggest "one that got away" was a new in box 15-3. That serial number looked so familiar...

I found the paperwork - mine was 1K66417. Damn, so close...
