Hello,

New member but long time (off and on) S&W owner.

I recently acquired a model 15 in 98%+ condition and am trying to ascertain when it was manufactured.

Specifically it is a model 15-4 with a serial number of 92K0615. It has a 4" pinned barrel, Target Hammer, Target grips and a thin grooved trigger.

Any information would be greatly appreciated,

Your revolver was born in 1981according to the catalog. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the welcome and the information.

I think Model 15's are the ultimate .38 Specials but, I guess I am biased. Mine is laser beam accurate with target loads.

I also have a 3" model 65 sitting at my dealer now but don't know the SN.

What is your barrel length ?
I have two M15's.
A 15-1 with a 4" barrel and a 15-4 with a 2" Heavy Barrel.
The 2" HB has a different frame, barrel contour and rear site from any other Model 15.
Both are still awesome.

Engine49guy,

Mine has a 4" pinned barrel.

From the information P@R Fan provided it is an '81 gun but by the forum headings, pinned guns would seem to have a cutt-off of '80. Perhaps mine is a transitional gun. Does your 15-4 have a pinned barrel?
