Hey all. I am trying to find a rear sight for my 15-3 (I know I have asked questions about this before). I have come to the realization after trying a sight off of my friends 15 no dash, a 625, 25 and an older 686 that none fit. From what I read the 15-3 moved the location of the screw hole but no mention has been made of moving it after.

Now the favor. If someone out there has a 15-4 that they would not mind giving a measurement from where the sight mates to the frame to the screw hole I would be able to compare this to mine to see if they are the same.

I am neverous about just ordering one because the sites I have looked at have it listed for a 15-4 among other models, but not mention is made of a 15-3.

Thanks in advance,
Brew

As near as I can measure, the sight blade on my late (un-pinned) 15-4 is about .488" from the front to the middle of the screw hole.

FWIW, the sight on my 18-4 appears to be identical, excepting for the obvious difference in blade height.

According to my copy of the SCSW the 15-3 introduced the relocation of the screw for the rear sight leaf and this feature wasn't changed until 1994 with the 15-7 when the frame was drilled and tapped for a sight rail.

I have a model 67-1 that dates to 1988 which means it's well past the 15-4 but still predates the 15-7, so it's well into the period that started with your 15-3. On my 67-1 the distance from the vertical face of the notch in the top strap for the rear sight body to the center of the mounting screw is 1.930 inch or 49.0mm. I expect that you'll find this matches the location for the mounting screw on you 19-3, so a rear sight leaf for a 15-4 should fit your gun perfectly.
