I've been looking to get a 4" 15, from everything from K-38 Pre-15's to 15-8's, and none of them have red insert sights or white outline rear sight blades?

I wonder why S&W never added this feature.

I have a 67-1 and I love the orange insert in the front sight, although the rear sight is plain black.

Not a standard feature during its production, but easy to do if you like. Almost universal in model 66s and 67s of the same era, except for the silver stainless sighted ones.

At one point in my career the 4" M15 was our issued weapon. None came w/the red front sight insert or white outline rear sight. We just painted our front sight w/correction fluid "white-out" when qualification time came around. Worked great but didn't last long.

I don't care for the white-outlined rear sight, but I had a gunsmith install a bright orange insert in the front blade of a 15-3, and my EDC J-frame. Helps my old eyes a lot. Orange remains visible in low light longer than red, which simply fades to black as the light fails.

I agree that the white outline rear blade makes sight pickup a bit faster. And orange seems to be the best color on the front sight.

I modified my 15-3 that I use in competition (IDPA) to the WO rear sight blade. It works great for me.

It was carried for over 25 years and shot very little when I got it last year. Finish challenged for sure, but just what I wanted to set up for stock service revolver.

The K frame is perfect for fast double action shooting. I probably will have it reblued over the winter and at that time I will cut the dovetail in the front blade and do a orange front sight insert.

The correct WO rear blade is the .126 for those who are interested.

I kept the stock combat hammer and put in a .312 smooth forged combat trigger. A very slick action job finished it off.

My pre-Model 15 Combat Masterpiece had an ivory insert installed at some point before it came into my possession. Some one put some TLC in to this 62 year old revolver (had it refinished - it needed it - which ruined any collector value), and it's a fine shooter.

I have two combat masterpieces....one with black sights, one with red insert and white outline rear sight. Cheers, Mike
