new to semi auto Pistols.. Purchased my 1st one.... Was wondering how to go about loading the 16th round in the pistol ... the mag holds 15 and 1 in the chamber.. So do I load 15 in the mag.. Pull the slide back and add the 16th to the chamber... Now do I just rack the slide closed? and bang theres 16 .. cause I thought when you closed the slide it is loading the next round in..

Insert mag.
Pull slide back, release...1 in the chamber.
Release mag, insert 1 more round (or insert full mag).
15 + 1 in the chamber.

Load the mag and insert it into the pistol. rack the slide to put one in the chamber. Release the mag and add one more to the mag. Re-insert themag and you know have 15 in the mag and one in the pipe.

With tda semiautos as well as dao's, load the mag to capacity. insert mag into empty weapon. rack slide with safety on (if so equipped), eject mag and add one round to mag. insert mag. you are chambered with mag capacity +1. Safety is the premier issue here. To unload, remove mag and rack slide to eject chambered round. safety, safety, safety.

When I've done this, I always wondered where to put my gun while topping off the mag. So, I do it this way...
Load two mags.
Insert one mag in gun.
Rack slide.
Chamber check.
Remove mag.
Insert the other full mag.
Holster gun.
Top off other mag.
Insert mag in mag pouch.
