For a while I was wondering about the coke-bottle grips. Originals are scarce.
Nill made a well renowned repro that I decide to try, few days later I received my purchase.

I took target grips from my 17 and made some pics:

The coke shape is there.

Fit and finish is really good

Expensive, yes, but no regrets, quality is there.

Those Nills are truly beautiful, but a little too rich for my blood, I'm afraid to say. After seeing the pictures I went to their website, thinking I'd like some of these for my K-frames, but when I saw the price, I decided that I'd stick with my original equipment targets.

Its always nice when the replacements or better than the originals

I don't mean to sound picky - and, I know, I'm going to sound picky anyway - but, what's with the GIANT grip screw head? I mean, if you're going to go to all that trouble, then why not cap it off with perfection? Other than that, gee - what beautiful grips! Mike

Nice grips. How was the fit? I have heard mixed things about Nil - everything from "perfect fit out of the box" to "needed major adjustments to line up properly". I guess that's the nature of custom grips meeting older frames, but was curious about your experience.

Don't usually see K-frames with Cokes, but I can't say it looks bad.

Feel is really good.

Fit is tight, need a really firm press to clamp the grips. There is only a hair between "tight" and "need some grinding" so it's possible that sometime depending on frame some adjustements are needed.

This isn't my first encounter with Nill's product:
I tried some,

Because of short fingers, only open backstrap is confortable

Bought new or second hand, I only kept "open backstrap", but never being disapointed by quality, fit or finish (only fingers lenght problem !).

I think that was intentional as it fits the interior of the diamond inlay. It's a bit bigger, yes but I think it probably offers a greater bearing surface to mate against the screwdriver blade. Probably an improvement over the original.

I have found Nill grips to be of the highest quality; commensurate with the price point that they sell at.

All that I have purchased fit so perfectly that you could not ask for better.

You might also consider the repro's from NC Ordinance. I've got a couple of sets now, and they seem to fit and work very well at a fraction of the cost of Nills. NC gets theirs from the horses mouth...Brazil. On the plus side, they're made from rosewood, and some are nothing less than spectacular looking.

At the gunshow last weekend, I was walking the aisles with a well known purveyor here. He bought a beautiful M57 from a guy, and it had factory presentation wood. About 15 minutes later we stumbled upon PizzaMan's tables, and he had an N (I forget what) with even better looking targets, smooth Rosewood. I asked him where he got them. He said NC. I'm going digging tonight after supper to look for the latest set I bought. I don't even know if they're K or N!

One big advantage of buying from the guy at the gunshows is you get to select your grips from what he's got with him. Some are so spectacular that they rival Keiths.

I googled NC Ordnance and got the gungrip.com website. They had cokes made in Brazil but they were $450!!!
