17-3 pricing help lease....

Have a 6" 17-3 that came from the mothership in 1972. It was purchased by a good friend of mine's grandfather, who left it to him and then I purchased it. The gun has been unfired since it left S&W. It has the box, with some minor wear, most of the docs, VCR paper but no cleaning kit. It still has the store hang tag on it. Gun is in mint condition, with no turn line or any marks.
I've had this in my safe for a while, and decided that I don't need any more safe queens that won't be shot. I have a really nice 17-4 that I use.
What would be a fair asking price for it? Thanks in advance.

I might say that the price might be 750-800 if used in good shape. Maybe 950-1000 in the condition you describe. Just my guess.

A five screw K-22 with the gold box probably. A Bangor Punta era Model 17-3 probably not. I'd be in agreement with those saying $700 and change.
